Hey guys,

I just received the notification that you’re removing the aggregating mode ☹.
Sadly, I trade in that mode and having it gone, is there going to be substitute or something similar?

Hello, everyone 👋

The decision to phase out aggregating mode was made to streamline our CFD trading options. Hedging mode provides better control and greater flexibility, so it will be the sole option going forward. This change will not impact any of your open positions or pending orders.

</div>

Will the “edit position” feature still be available in Hedging mode? As far as I am aware, one feature of hedging mode allows for a reduction, or increase of the position in which you are “editing”. This was always a best of both worlds scenario, where you could add or reduce the size of a particular position - in effect aggregating the position (or reducing it).

Will this still be available ?

You can continue trading seamlessly and modify your positions as needed. The only change is that positions will be managed separately, rather than being aggregated.

</div>

Can you clarify this further? The edit position allowed for an increase in the position size, NOT opening a new position. I’m confused by your answer.
Edit: What I am trying to get across, is the ‘edit/modify position’ feature within hedging mode, necessarily meant it aggregated the particular position. That’s the entire point of editing the position, to either increase or decrease the position size. It of course results in an aggregated cost basis, because you are editing a particular position, NOT opening a new position. I hope I am making sense

And modifying a position takes forever ☹.
Are you guys thinking or working on a quicker option to modify a position? Now I have to go right click - modify, go to the relevant tab, manually add lots and then buy/sell. That takes 5/6 times longer than just buy/sell with the quick buttons on Aggregate mode.

@SCFC The modify screen remains the same - you can still increase or reduce your position. The key difference with the hedging mode is that you can’t reverse your position. For instance, if you’ve bought 100, you can add more or close some, but you can’t switch to a sell.

@rparvanov We’re planning a redesign of the order screen, which will aim to provide a more intuitive experience. No right-click is needed - you can tap on the position to open the modify screen.

I understand what hedging is and opening a short position on an existing long position. This is the fundamental difference between the aggregate mode and the hedging mode to begin with.

What I am precisely asking, using LONG in this example — is if you modify a position, and add to a position, will it remain aggregated, or will you end up with two separate open positions, instead of one modified / aggregated position.

Modifying a position is acting as in aggregate mode. I checked it yesterday.

Hi, wouldnt it be a good idea to get feedback from customers before removing such services, I mean many use the platform due to whats available, i understand some decisions have to be made but it does feel like there was no need to remove hedging as it was optional, those that didnt want to use it didnt need to, now the optionality has been removed it creates restriction, more and more restriction surely cant be good. We saw that with reduction in quantity orders which resulted in some what of a backlash, its now a process on the forum to request an increase which takes up more time for customers but also 212 staff to continously make changes from requests. Also to add that excution of orders in a certain timeframe means missing out on possible buying opportunities.

You cannot short sell inside an ISA, and if you are looking to short sell stocks, you should really open a proper margin account at another broker. What you are asking for is impossible and outside of the scope, and regulations, of an ISA.

Thanks mate, I presumed it was still working as it stands right now, but I was wondering if this feature would be removed completely – Meaning when you attempt to modify a position _AFTER_ the proposed date of change, will it just begin opening new positions instead of aggregating the existing position you are modifying. I wanted T212 to lay this out very clearly for people, so they understand if this will work, or not, going forward – and offer a work-around for people at the same time, who might not be aware this is even possible.

I don’t think you read what Veselin was saying.

> You can continue trading seamlessly and modify your positions as needed. The only change is that positions will be managed separately, rather than being aggregated.

So when I said

> you should give us this open in ISA too

I meant that instead of one position per company - each buy in should be separate not merged as one position. E.g. 3 purchases, 3 separate positions

Really disappointing that this feature is being removed and not simply left as an option for users to decide which mode they want to use.
