Hi, I am trying to establish the book cost of some SSE shares that I have held for 30 years as I want to sell them

Have you asked your bank/broker to see whether they are able to provide this information?

Or do you hold them as actual physical certificates?

Separate question, do you know the specific date or at least the month you bought them in?
