@Bogi.H I have found this thread interesting. Following the change in UK interest rates by Trading 212, I made my largest cash withdrawal to date from my invest account. Unlike other withdrawals which have been instant, this time I got a weird pop-up asking me to confirm that I wasn’t planning to fund terrorist activities(!) and the money has not yet arrived at its destination. I do hope the funds arrive tomorrow as I need them for other commitments. ---

How long did it take at the end? Its a closed loop. You can only withdraw money to your own bank accounts, and the money originated from your bank accounts anyway. Shouldn’t this be quick? ---

What determines a fast transfer Vs a normal transfer? As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I’ve noticed withdrawals are slower rather than faster recently. Is it something I am doing, the method of withdrawal perhaps? Or waiting on clearance of funds from a sale perhaps? I requested a withdrawal yesterday and it is still currently sitting in requested withdrawals with the ability to cancel. ---

Withdrawals take up to 3 business days to process. You will receive an email and an in-app notification as soon as your request is executed. This is where the improvements we discussed come into play - previously, the timeframe from execution to receiving funds took a few days. With these improvements, this timeframe is now significantly shorter. On a side note, the status of withdrawal requests can be checked under ‘Manage Funds’ \> ‘Withdraw requests’. You can expect the funds shortly once the status is changed to ‘Executed’. ---

Does T212 offer withdrawals in minutes if I need to instruct a sell to generate the cash? Or do I always have to wait for settlement? I’ve heard that it’s instant, but that’s a lot different than other companies. Great if true! ---

For frequently traded stocks, settlement is instant and the money appears in your portfolio immediately. For less frequently traded stocks you may have to wait for a buyer in which case a new entry will appear in your Pending Orders list. ---

thanks for the reply. i think that might be something different though. is that cash available for withdrawal or only to trade again because the trade has been confirmed? other places tell me i have to wait for settlement to withdraw because of regulations, they haven’t received the cash yet, and they won’t prefund it. i wonder if T212 is prefunding for withdrawals? ---

I have wondered this too and have asked previously. The response I’ve had back is that 212 will try and pay out earlier on a best efforts basis. Suspect it all depends on the cash they have ringfenced for confirmed buys vs open sales as well, you can’t always guarantee what will be there for large outflows. ---

All my withdrawals to Barclays have been in minutes but yesterdays still hasn’t arrived. Says 3 business days before I can contact them to chase. Always makes me nervous if not the same day. ---

did you have to sell something to generate cash so it might have to settle? Or was it already available cash? ---

been thinking more on this. if they let you have the cash before any sells have settled, it’s using other clients’ cash and against the regulations. they can’t do it just because the trade has confirmed and they know they’ll get the money. they actually have to receive it. i seriously doubt they prefund using their own cash. that would be a lot of money. ---

Trading212 withdrawal is unacceptably slow. Second day and I’m waiting. Fix it,people want their money instantly. 3 days…what a joke. ---

@ChrisDr can I ask, did you have to sell down anything to generate that cash or was it cash already sitting uninvested? I’m also looking at timings for various companies ---

Don’t know why this got a thumb down, I agree 100%. I would use T212 a lot more if I could rely on at least a 24 hour wait. ---

Because as you’ll know @1anrs , markets do not settle on trade date. Some markets settle T+1, others T+2, and some T+3/4. So when you agree to purchase a share in a company, your cash is reserved but the transaction does not complete until a day or few days later. Same for sales. 212 from what I have seen appear to do some smart trade matching, so if you are selling stocks to withdraw, and someone is buying stocks, it does appear like they’re trying to give us a better service by matching those funds and paying the withdrawal out earlier than it’s due. I’ve not seen any of my other broker accounts do this - HL will wait until the sale is fully complete for example, before processing my withdrawal. If they don’t have any pending sales to raise cash, then perhaps they’ve been unlucky but all my withdrawals have either been in a next working day window or post settlement of my sales. ---
