💳 Introducing the 212 Card

What are classed as eligible merchants?

I paid a bill online using curve with 212 selected and did not receive any cashback.

Yes it shows completed

I’ve noticed t212 card now has a limit on contactless payments that it didn’t seem to have before, I’ve seen the explanation in the help.

I’m was wondering if it’s possible to have something like the NatWest Rooster card my kids use where you can reset the contactless via the app. It just asks you if you have the card when you do this. This seems to satisfy the regulatory requirements. So it could still be a 5-transaction limit but you reset it manually. Saves messing about at the till and (probably I got this paranoia from Covid) means I don’t have to touch the keypad for a lot of purchases!

I wasn’t aware of that. With revolut I only use virtual cards and reset the limit via app.

We can’t do this with 212? What’s the limit?

Add the T212 card to Apple Pay. I did and never get any issue with limits, except when the pot is running low. If it is it’s such simple move of funds on the app and then the transaction goes straight through.

You have limits with the card, e.g. per transaction/daily/monthly for each of transactions/ATM/Money Transfer.

In case it helps, Royalmail.com accept paypal, you can still use the card if you link the 212 card to Paypal, you just can’t pay direct.

Does enabling the card require a password even from a trusted device?

Is there any way to compeltely disable the card? It’s a potential security vector that I’d rather not have.

You can do this in the app.

I’m talking about completely disabling the card. There have been a few cases reported on reddit where users lose money via the card. e.g.: Reddit - The heart of the internet

When logged in, i noticed most of my stocks were sold and funds transferred over from my ISA account to my Invest account where it was then used to make purchases to multiple merchants via single use trading 212 cards which were not made by me so i contacted customer services right away. Whilst I was waiting for a response, i kept getting notifications confirming online payments to Asda, Basket Gift card and Just eat for a total of £725. I have the full details of each payments including transaction IDs, they all are showing as pending status.

Trading 212 contacted me back and said that they have confirmed that the actions were authorised from a trusted device and are unable to reverse transactions or refund funds but as the payments are currently pending, there may be a chance they can be reversed by the merchant.

This type of hack would be much more difficult if the debit card didn’t exist.

I assume anyone with unauthorised access (i.e. cookie stealing) could just enable the card and instantly start using it? or does it require password reentry to enable it?

Again please have a look in your app

But what you are quoting is actions that took place on a trusted device to make payments.

So someone took those actions on a trusted device with their login details, which is a different thing.

That or someone got their login details and they did not have 2FA setup.

2FA should be on by default for all users but people can opt out so those situations sadly arise.

Anything new for second class EU citizens with OG UK account? :man_shrugging:

Please add PL account for PLN account transfer top up. Now I have DE account which is completly without sense.

Hi,

Out of caution, I don’t keep more than a certain amount available for spending with card (just enough for a typical shopping/dining out expense). Every time I get a declined payment due to insufficient funds, I need to move money in the app. The problem is that most banking apps are painfully slow, and it needs 3+ taps to move money between accounts once you get to log into the app. This is especially true for the Trading212 app when there’s an extra, painfully slow step to switch from ISA to Invest account to even reach any card functions. Do you know any bank/e-money firm that thought about this and has some sort of 1-tap, quick money move feature in their app? I’m eager to be a client of them.

Check out Starling Bank

Hey!

Any updates on the status for Switzerland?

I’d really love to get the card, but it doesn’t seem to work… :frowning:

We’re looking into this, but at this stage we can’t confirm when it will be available. If we hear anything, we’ll let you know.

best multi currency card out there, it has been my mostly used card for daily usage

Me too. I have used it all over Europe. I think the only time I had issues was trying to use a cash point in Naples.

I have two improvement requests:

1. Round up whole amounts
I would like whole amounts (e.g. €20.00) to also be rounded up to the next euro.
Ideally this should work in combination with the multiplier, so that a maximum of €5 per transaction is charged.
There are often transactions — for example at a restaurant with a tip — that end up as a whole number. In those cases, nothing is rounded up and no amount is invested, which is unfortunate.

2. Minimum round-up amount
I would like to set a minimum value for the round-up, i.e. a minimum amount that gets invested.
If payments end in €0.99, for example, only one cent is invested — or with the multiplier, at most five cents. That’s too little for me.
I’d like the option to set a minimum amount, for example so that at least €0.50 is always invested.
Ideally this should also work in combination with the multiplier, so that a maximum of €5 per transaction is charged.

Thank you very much.
