My money is evaporating without trading!

I’ve recently opted in to receive Interest On Cash and ever since my account seems to decline steadily after I make a good trade.

For example yesterday I made a trade which resulted in ($111) ÂŁ86 gain with no FX fees (since I only trade US stocks and store the money in $) :down_arrow:

Then later today all those gains have since gone :down_arrow: even though I didn’t trade anything since.

This happens every time I make a good trade :down_arrow:

To the point which this steady decline outpaces my daily interest and stock gains (BTW I haven’t had a bad trade this past week).

Would appreciate if someone could help.

(PS I’m aware that in the T&C of IOC it states that when opting in your account balance can go down since it’s invested in QMMFs)

Your account value is in GBP so even, if you’re only trading in US stocks and keeping cash in USD, the exchange rate will be taking effect.
Have a look at the GBP/USD graph, available as read-only in invest accounts if you don’t have a CFD account, compared to your account value.

Here’s the GBP/USD graph from today (+1.32%):

Here’s my balance for today (-1.2%):

Note that I didn’t trade or hold any shares here👆

But you held usd cash and your account is reported in gbp?

This is you can buy more USD for each GBP by 1.32%, so because you store your funds in USD, in GBP terms you have less.
