It’s very unclear. My App says **up to 1.5%** cashback now. with no clear statement as to what the cashback paid actually is. If you click through and read the promo terms, the 1.5% ended on 31 July. It looks like T212 has forgotten that their promo ened to me with no replacement stated.
I’d assume that it has reverted to the old 0.5%, but that is my assumption and not a T212 statement.

Did you contact Customer Support to ask them why your subscription was removed? I am sure they could have reinstated it for you if it qualified.
1.5% is the best non-AMEX cashback in the UK. So it is only fair that T212 impose rules as they think appropriate. I am sure that you could get a debit card with no or lower cashback if you cannot meet the conditions.

I as well don’t use any of these zoomer streaming services.
So I turned on automatic charging of my phone bill to the T212 card and let’s see if it will qualify.

I would be happy to opt in, but the only subscription i have is to spotify, and they cannot accept the trading212 card, so i have just got a chase credit card for 2% cash back

Just for the record, a simple phone bill (provider O2) paid by the T212 card is recognized as a subscription and gets you qualified for cashback.

I’ve set my mobile phone bill to be paid each month by my T212 card. One payment was made at the end of July, showing as a recurring payment in my list of T212 card transactions.

I’m still not having it showing as a subscription, I contacted support and they said it won’t qualify until the next payment has been made.

Really not a fan of this new situation.

So I’ve just found an email dating from 30th June which explains the current terms:

> Have an active Eligible Subscription processed via your Trading 212 Card, and
> Activate the Invest Cashback feature in your account
> Until 1st August 2026, you’ll continue to earn your current cashback rate, including any Cashback Promotional Rate you may currently be benefiting from, which will remain in place until the end of the promotional campaign period (31st July 2026), as long as you remain eligible for it. After 1st August 2026, your cashback rate will drop to 0% if you don’t meet both of the above eligibility criteria

I confirm that I am continuing to receive 1.5% cashback.

For those who seem to be in a panic about having a qualifying subscription, it is really quite easy. A basic £1.99 monthly Google or Microsoft subscription counts. My Amazon Prime (which is yearly) seems to have been logged and counts. Basically any regular payment for anything seems to be picked up and counts so long as it is regular and is for the same amount each time.

From what I see, quite alot: “Chase current and saver accounts required. Make 15+ payments per month using your debit or credit card and/or Direct Debits and maintain £1,000+ across your savers (excluding round-up accounts).”

The detail is £1000 in their saver account which pays only 2.23% gross. What you gain on the card you are likely to lose on the savings account.

Has something changed now? I came to realise recently that my account did not qualify for cashback ‘because I had no subscriptions’ when I missed a large chunk of cashback on somethings I recently purchased.

But today I see it’s suddenly happy that my yearly Amazon Prime payment is a subscription, and that my Microsoft Azure subscription (which changes value slightly month to month based on usage) also qualifies … And then it lists a bunch of other subscriptions which have lapsed, such as my purchase from Greggs when I go to the monthly office day 😂

Which is quite apt, because it seems this method of detecting subscriptions feels a bit flaky

And now it’s decided that actually no, I don’t have any qualifying subscriptions again, so has dropped me out of cashback again 🤬

The cashback on spend was a massive incentive for me to dunk a lot of money into this account. If it’s not reliable anymore then I’ll likely move elsewhere. Very annoying

Yesterday was my fist time making a card payment with another card than my trading212 card since i got it a year ago. I do not have monthly subscriptions, so no cashback. So i will be using another card that does have cashback. Still do not understand why this stupid restriction has been implemented.

I accept what you say, but it must be unusual for someone not to have any sort of subscription. Monthly utilities, telephone and broadband charges will all count. However, I fully understand that many of those organisations insist on bank transfers rather than on a debit/credit card. If you have found a card that is not AMEX and gives more than 1.5% cashback they well done. We (consumers) must always shop round to find the best deals that personally suit us.
I often make payments using another card because I have maximised the £15 T212 cashback so I am better-off using a normal credit card and earning interest on an interest-free loan from the credit card.

Its like you said, they do not accept card payments. And yes, my financial situation is a bit abnormal as i am relatively young and because of the housing market i still live with my parents. None of this takes away from my point that it is a stupid restriction.

Trading212 reducing the quality of their product slowly.

Who’s going through all this for a measly 1.5% cashback capped at £15.

Etoro offers between 3 and 4% and the cap is higher.

For those who seem to have trouble meeting the terms of a regular payment to meet the cashback terms. I have been talking with my son who works in the financial services industries and he has shed some light on the situation. Whenever you make a card payment, the payment processor (Paynetics in the case of T212) collects more information than is printed on your card. Specifically, it collects how the card is used when payment is made. This could be contactless, chip and pin, entered on a website or a saved card on a website. The key apparently is to **save the T212 debit card on a website** and to make the purchase from that the card saved on the website. Knowing that now and looking at my many ‘subscriptions’, this will be why Amazon appears so many times. A card just entered on a website at the time of purchase will not be counted.
So if you are living at home with your parents (as my son is) you should be able to claim the cashback quite easily as he does. For a young person living at home a monthly Microsoft XBOX game pass or Google Play pass will do the trick.
