# Turn off fraction shares in Pies

There’s no option to turn off fractional shares in Pies. Fractional shares are a core part of how Pies work, and there are no plans to add a whole-shares-only option at the moment.

Pies allocate money based on percentages rather than a fixed number of shares. That means fractions are often needed to keep each slice close to its target weight, especially with smaller or recurring deposits.

The same applies to rebalancing and dividend reinvestment - using fractions lets the Pie invest more precisely instead of leaving cash uninvested or allowing the target weights to drift.
