Advanced Macro Allocation & Intelligent Rebalancing (Beyond Pies!)

Advanced Macro Allocation & Intelligent Rebalancing (Beyond Pies!)

best trading 212 community
Right now, managing everything across Invest, Crypto, and CFD accounts can feel a bit disconnected. I believe the next major evolution for Trading 212 should be an **Advanced Macro Allocation & Rebalancing System*a way to set target percentages for our entire wealth and let the platform help us stay on track.

Here is how I visualize this working:

1. Flexible Macro Allocation (The Core)

We should be able to define our target asset allocation (target percentages) at three flexible levels, depending on how we like to invest:

  • Account-Based Allocation: Set targets based on total account value (e.g., 50% Invest / 25% Crypto / 25% CFD). The platform simply tracks the bottom-line value of each specific account.
  • Asset-Class Allocation (Auto-Detected): Targets based on platform-defined asset classes (e.g., 60% Equities / 20% Crypto / 20% Cash).
  • Strategy-Based Allocation (Custom Folders): For active investors, we need a way to organize manual investments without the forced auto-invest rules of Pies. Imagine a flexible Folder Structure (similar to Scalable Capital). You buy your stocks freely and manually, but you can drop them into custom folders/sub-folders like [AI Stocks] or [Dividend Core]. You can then assign target allocation percentages directly to these folders.

2. Context-Aware Rebalancing & Smart Suggestions

When the market moves and our portfolio drifts away from our target macro allocation, the platform should give us smart, actionable suggestions based on what we want to do:

  • Scenario A: Rebalancing via new deposits (Fresh Capital)
If you deposit new funds and want to fix your allocation, the platform recognizes which category is lagging.
    • Example: If Crypto is underweight, the platform suggests: “Your Crypto allocation is currently low. Consider allocating your next €500 deposit to your Crypto account to restore balance.”
  • Scenario B: Rebalancing existing assets (Portfolio Optimization)
If you want to rebalance using your current holdings without depositing new cash, the system looks deeper into your folders and suggests specific asset trades.
    • Example: If your tech folder is overweight, the platform could suggest: “Your [AI Stocks] folder is overweight. Consider taking some profits there and buying more .. within your [Growth] folder to restore balance.”
  • Scenario C: Dynamic Cash-Out / Profit-Taking (New Option!)
If your target allocation includes a specific ‘Cash Reserve’ percentage (e.g., 10% Cash) and you are running low on liquidity, the system can automatically assist you in freeing up cash based on your macro targets.
    • Example: If your Cash allocation drops too low, the platform can suggest: “Your Cash Reserve is below your 10% target. Would you like to automatically take profits from your overweight [AI Stocks] folder to restore your cash balance?” This makes withdrawing or holding tactical cash effortless.

3. The All-in-One Macro Dashboard

To tie this all together, a centralized Macro Dashboard would act as our ultimate wealth cockpit. Instead of flipping between separate accounts, this dashboard would aggregate data from Invest, CFD, Crypto, and our custom folders, showing us our actual vs. target allocation in one clean overview.

Why this would be a game-changer

By focusing on advanced macro allocation, Trading 212 would solve the biggest headache for modern, diversified investors. It combines the clean organization of folders with cross-account rebalancing intelligence. It would officially elevate T212 from a set of great trading accounts into the ultimate, all-in-one wealth management ecosystem.

What do you guys think? Would you use a macro allocation tool like this to manage your portfolio? Let’s hear your thoughts, and hopefully, trading 212 can look into this! it would make the platform in my opinion better to manage.
