Probably a silly question but just getting started. Say i bought 10 shares at £10 (£100) and the compaby completely crashed. Is £100 the most i can possibly lose?

INVEST?! Jesus that changes everything. In that case, no, you can lose x10 your investment, so 1000 pounds.
Ok I made that up. Yes, you only lose 100 pounds max. You can’t lose money you didn’t spend.
