Alibaba’s share price continues to fall. It is down nearly 8% today, on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
Sounds like extra discount on the way, thanks
There are three legit strategies that could be applied.
-
Keep your position.
-
Keep half, sell half (or whatever proportion)
-
Liquidate all of you position and re-enter later with a lower price.
I have applid all of them in different cases, sometimes work sometimes do not.
These three strategies are legit and each to their own, no absolute right or wrong as we do not have a crystal ball.
I myself have tried the third one a few times and get caught a few times. The problem with this is that you might re-enter with higher price than when you first purchased it originally as when there is a news or announcement it will jump significantly. I might do that If I am still in Green, not Red. I hardly ever sell my position when they are in red. I remember Warren Buffet rule of capital preservation “Rule No. 1: Never lose money. Rule No. 2: Never forget rule No. 1.”
I normally do the second when I need funding for a more lucrative trade.
I will normally apply the third one even at a loss and never reenter if there is a fundamental change in business e.g clear evidence of Bankruptcy. In this case the option is you lose part of money or all of money. In this particular case everyone will now what to do.
This guys is a pro Trader and he has done a good deskwork. It will save your time. But as always be we also need to do our own DD to make our own decision.

@Lenos1980 these people baited you into baba eyy mate, u know it’s tesla and Ai / Gene all the way
Who is baited ? WHy the retailer invcestor here on Trading 212 need to do that? How the retailer investors here on Trading212 will effect the price movement ? how many shares are bought from Trading 212 needed to influecne the price ??
If you just start thinking about in ivesting inTesla and other EV stocks, AI people (including me) have been investing in Tesla, AI since the early days. So if the people start talkign about investing in Tesla there might be anoher accuse that people are trying to bait other people to invest in Tesla.
In any decison you make your own DD you take the gain you take the pain for your own decision. We all know that this forus has never been a recomendation to buy/sell/hold share.
lmao i was being sarcastic; it’s a intern thing between me and @Lenos1980
Well for now it’s stayed in the green, fundamentally baba is hard to flaw. With the way the market moves with news and more speculative talks, it just worries me that’s all.
Hopefully a year from now the ant group will get news for its ipo, the CCP will relax the pressure and we will all be happy again.
@InvestOnly as I’ve said before fundamentally Tesla is a worship stock with the current valuation, but it keeps bringing the profits .
I’m in Tesla until it shows me a reason not to be
How is everyone feeling about this today given the talks of a holding company being set up to house all financial services that will then be fully banking sector compliant?
I personally hope for more panic and despair, for it to dip in low 200s.
Not at all worried about a long recovery? Or the break up of the higher profit companies?
Well if China wants to shoot itself in the foot, nothing I can do about that.
But Baba is currently biggest steal on the market.
Obviously I am not crazy to go 20% portfolio allocation to BABA, but healthy 5-7% is something I am willing to risk if price dips to low 200s.
Bulls bet on Alibaba on CNBC
My belief, just wait about in a few weeks before it is going back to be all time high
I preferred the $216 price to add more personally
I just notice ARK Invest has started adding their position on BABA since Yesterday. December 29, 2020.
Hbomb “I preferred the $216 price to add more personally”
@Hbomb, good luck then if you ever see that price again in a few years to come.
I think @Hbomb was just stating that because we were all watching it unfold so most of us bought in at pre $220 levels
I didn’t have the money that day
- 21 Wallstreet Analysts " ALL Buy" (No holding or Selling, very unusual)
- ARK Invest is buying since yesterday.
- CNBC Analysist Jon N “Bulls bet on Alibaba (see above)”
- Benzinga recommnedation
Is there any stronger conviction than this ?? I would like to know.
Unless you use the concept “never follow the herd to profit or you will follow the herd to losses”
