Any tips for a newbie with a small budget?

Starting small.

What’s best way to make some small steady gains? Any tips welcome.

Thanks

I would start with an index fund if you have small amounts to invest and a long term view of investing.

I invest in VUAG VHVG and VFEG, this helped me adapt to seeing some reds but gaining in the greens overtime.

Please do research before you make any investment decisions.

If it were that easy everyone would do it. However, early this morning, I found a ‘buy’ recommendation in the on-line Times newspaper for James Fisher so I bought 305 shares immediately which went through when the market opened. I sold them 90 minutes later for a quick £50 profit.

It doesn’t always work though. Look out for good news: big orders and the like.

Btw, The Times only does this kind of analysis every couple of days and only some of them are ‘buy’ recommendations - and you need to get in early.
