My understanding is that I can keep cash in stock isa. If so what’s the difference with cash isa?
I think* spare cash in a stocks ISA is deposited and returned daily from a select list of QMMFs. Money market funds essentially that have strict rules to help protect the value of your capital and pay interest daily.
The cash ISA is a more traditional product - your money goes out to a basket of banks on deposit to earn interest paid by the partner banks.

In addition to Dougal’s answer, there’s also the FCSC scheme to protect capital up to £85K in cash accounts which doesn’t apply to a S&S ISA.
