Currency Code on ETFs

Can you explain the currency code and how this affects UK investors? I’d intuitively go for GPB but they tend to be distributing, and I’m more interested in accumulation ETFs which tend to be USD (eg: VUAA/VUSA). Some of these are even more confusing and have the (USD) on the ETF name and the currency code is GPB (Eg: VAPX: Vanguard FTSE Developed Asia Pacific ex-Japan UCITS ETF (USD) Distributing)

This means that the ETF is traded with a GBP price, however the dividends are paid in USD. This is common with the Vanguard distributing ETFs. Similarly, VERX is priced in GBP but the dividends are paid out in EUR.
