Is it true that one customer can't have both CFD and Invest accounts?

I am reading here, but it’s not clearly stated.

Opening and holding two active accounts under the same name and identification documents isn’t possible on our platform.

You can open an Invest, CFD, and ISA account (if you are a resident of the UK) under the same name and email address.

If you have created a second account and you wish to use it, you will have to deactivate your old one first in order to activate and use your new account.

If I am interpreting it correctly only UK residents can open 3 accounts: one Invest, one CFD and one ISA.

Customers from other countries can open one Invest account or one CFD account (it’s not possible to open two accounts: one CFD and one Invest).

Why is this limitation?

Everybody can open 1 Invest and 1 CFD.
UK has ISA extra.

In this case why they state:

Opening and holding two active accounts under the same name and identification documents isn’t possible on our platform.

Instead of:

Opening and holding two active accounts of the same type under the same name and identification documents isn’t possible on our platform.

An active account includes both Invest and CFD.

It’s makes it pretty explicit here though by using an “and” instead of an “or”

(if you are a resident of the UK)

This can be interpreted in two ways:

  1. Only customers from UK can have Invest and CFD and ISA account (3 accounts instead of 1).
  2. Only customers from UK can have ISA account, however all customers can have Invest and CFD account.

@Tony.V

Maybe could you make this section more explicit in the next amendments?

I think you might be overthinking this big time stylee.

This is stating that only UK residents can open ISAs. They don’t exist outside the UK.

I’m not sure where the confusion is here but this is saying only one account per person.

They’re talking about a Trading212 account. Trading212 operates as a single entity for CFD, Invest and ISA. When you open an account, you have access to all 2 (or 3 if you’re UK based).

Exactly.

This is just a common use of lists and brackets in my opinion.

If the sentence was meant to say that only UK residents can have 3 accounts it would say

“You can open an Invest, CFD and ISA account if you are a resident of the UK”

The brackets clearly indicate it is only applicable to that specific item in the list.
