Recent security update for signing into the platform and adding trusted device

Recently I thought my browser was having an issue as each time I’d log into the website via desktop it would require me to sign rather than staying signed in for period of time. After trying out few trial and error methods like clearing cache and cookies nothing worked. I spoke to couple of customer support agents one of which recently mentioned the platform updated it’s security, as result of this I can no longer have my computer as trusted device because means to verifying myself require a camera which I don’t have on my desktop. By extension this has made having google auth app also pointless so I have either open it up each time or trading 212 app to temporally verify.

The suggestion stems with the ability to verify a login and add to trusted devices (like my desktop) on already existing trusted device using camera function of that instead (like smartphone or laptop. This feature is already available on different platforms like crypto exchanges.

This is quite an inconvenience and in my personal opinion an oversight in implementation of this added feature.

Thanks taking the time to read and let me know your thoughts.

For someone who invests in stocks and shares, I would have thought that investing in a USB camera a minor problem…

I am in the same boat. I am missing the bit where the OP mentions they can’t _afford_ a camera, simply that they don’t have one, and probably they don’t want one either.
