In summary I was trying to say the same as I quoted from you , so on my view, this information is the only one relevant when you open the key facts of a company… everything else like trailing or forwarding do not reflect the current company declared data about their dividends.
I really don’t understand why those data are used as the facto data about a company’s dividend.
One last note, I don’t think anyone reports any type of yield percentage on a single payment.
When someone says, that stocks yield this percent; it is always an “over one year period”. Either previous 12months or next 12months in rare occasions it is current company financial year.
