One could say that going long in US Tech Mega Caps is going long in Fed.

FATANGM is 3rd largest country by GDP.

  • Looking at the market caps of the megacaps (Facebook (NASDAQ:FB), Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN), Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL), Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL), Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX), Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA)) combined, that would be the third-largest country in the world in terms of GDP.
  • “The Fed has been tech’s best friend for the past 10 years,” Hartnett says. “It’s no coincidence that since the outbreak of COVID19 global central banks have bought $834mn of financial assets every 60 minutes … and every 60 minutes the market cap of global tech stocks has risen $780mn.”

“Whereas the market cap of the S&P 500 has increased by 270% since 2011, the total value of the four largest companies has increased by 673%,” Bespoke says. “In terms of market cap, the four largest companies account for just over 20% of the entire S&P 500’s market cap, and the 25 largest companies make up 49% of the total. In 2011, by contrast, the four largest companies had a weighting of 10% and the 25 largest accounted for about 36% of the total market cap.”
