ARKG is not legal for sale in Europe to retail investors. eToro is selling CFDs based on the ETFs ARKK, ARKF, ARKW, not the ETFs themselves.
ohhh I see. thatâs unfortunate. I guess Iâm back on my ETF scout!
Hey David, thanks for your contributions here have been really helpful!
Was wondering, is it bad to re-balance the ARK pie daily to try match Arkâs holdings?
Would buying and selling daily cause large losses to accumulate due to the spreads on the holdings?
In one of your replies you said youâd look at doing it on a monthly basis. However, today saw a very large drop in Arcturus (ARCT UQ) and Ark have almost halved there position in this plus re-distributed else where.
Just thinking if there are any disadvantages to do this daily apart for the time investment required.
Just buy the top 5 holdings that ARKG has the biggest conviction in, or even top 7
yup, made a pie for it. I did top 20 holdings which account for ~70% and scaled them up (rounded up some things a bit, but should still be accurate).

If anyone wants me to do an ARK pie, then just reply with your request.
Hereâs a quick hack to see underlying ARK securities and theyâe trading availability o Trading212. Itâs a bit slow as itâs doing a lot of processing in the background and checking live ARK holdings, mapping to ISIN and mapping against Trading212 data.
Enjoy
@David I know many people have said ARKK doesnât have a KIID etc. hence why we donât have it but correct me if Iâm wrong but Interactive Brokers have it listed and it says there is a link to a PRIIPS KID document? Is this different to a KIID?
https://contract.ibkr.info/v3.10/index.php?action=Details&site=GEN&conid=172522644
Theyâre essentially the same thing but confusingly slightly different. ETFs right now would have a KIID, ETCs and ITs would have a KID. As currently ETFs are under the UCITS legislation and ETCs and ITs under the PRIIPS rules.
Either way, IB is talking S@@t ⊠there is no official KIID for ARK and therefore you canât have it.
About the myth of the ARK ETFs not being allowed in Europe:
In Saxo Bank white label platform solutions used by some European banks, the investors could buy the ARK ETFs:
I know that some Portuguese banks that use the Saxo Bank platform have the ARK ETFs:
- Banco Best
- Banco BiG
- Banco Carregosa (GoBulling)
- Banco Invest
Also ARK ETFs present in Spanish banks :
- Inversis
In common in these banks, is that they are banks specialized in investments. Perhaps more European banks have these ARK ETFs, if you search for them.
EDIT: It would be nice to know the @Team212 position on the ARK ETFs availability.
They are allowed⊠to âaccreditedâ investors without KIIDs
Stake have them available with accreditation
Easy
I know some common retail investors that invested in the Ark ETFs. And anyone could buy these ETFs.
About the ARK investment funds for retail investors there are KIID and these funds are already available in the following countries (itâs a matter of time to be available in other European countries):
https://www.fundinfo.com/en/PT-priv/LandingPage/Alternative?query=ARK
Example KIID: NGUF - Nikko AM ARK Disruptive Innovation Fund - B EUR (LU1861558747)
If I have some spare time I will try to find the KIID for the Ark ETFs.
Note: By the way, @Finki, nice work in the your projects.
Yes, Iâve pointed out before you can buy a variant of the ARK ETF via NikkoAM⊠but itâs got big initial minimums and itâs not the actual ETF⊠itâs a replicaâŠbut itâs not the ETF (not that that matters)
Please do
IF they existed they are legally mandated to be on the providers website⊠so you really only need to look at https://ark-funds.com/
Which Iâm assuming you already have
Yes, I know that the Nikko funds are a replica of the Ark ETFs, but is another history.
I know several people that bought the Ark ETFs without any problem, in Portugal and they arenât professional or institutional investors.
If I find the KIID and Ark documents for the ETFs, do you pay me a Pint?
In the Morningstar platform used by Banco Best () about the ARKK:
(Performance converted to USD, for those that use a different currency to negotiate, choose your currency.)
I didnât went there for the documents. I searched on the financial intermediaries or on the specialized information platforms according to the countries that sell them.
About the accreditation (bold text is from me):
Sophisticated ETF investors
A potential exception exists if your platform allows so-called sophisticated investors to buy US-domiciled ETFs. You may qualify if you can demonstrate that you are a professional investor, or are otherwise highly qualified, with the knowledge and experience to understand the risks of the product.
Qualification under this exception depends on your broker deciding that you meet the UK definition of a sophisticated investor. You may also need a very large portfolio (over ÂŁ500,000). Many popular brokers donât even allow for this workaround so itâs no magic bullet.
Also from the article above:
A fluid situation
Each European territory implements PRIIPs according to its own interpretation of the standard, so it is possible that some EU-based brokers open to UK investors will make US-domiciled ETFs available under a less strict regime.
EDIT: Maybe a more strict FCA policy? See the recent Crypto-traded derivatives ban by the FCA.
Yes. Unapologetically YES
A Portuguese KID (Documento de InformaçÔes Fundamentais ao Investidor (DIF)) from Banco Invest on ARKK made in 16/April/2020 (Portuguese language):
Source: Banco Invest ARKK - https://www.bancoinvest.pt/poupanca-e-investimento/titulos/etf/detalhe?simbolo=ARKK%20US&tipotitulo=ETF
This KID is a generic KID for all Banco Investâs ETFs that donât have KID (US-mainly ETFs) and accepted by the Portuguese financial markets regulator (CMVM):
O presente documento é genérico e aplica-se aos ETFs listados em bolsa e que não apresentam um Documento de Informação Fundamental individual.

Type of non-professional client to whom it is intended:
Non-professional client with advanced knowledge and experience on the characteristics and risks associated with derivatives, with the highest level of risk tolerance and the ability to withstand losses that, in certain situations, may significantly exceed the amount invested.
The above text is a way that banks and brokers put the investment responsibility on the investors shoulders.
The people familiar with Degiro know how Degiro allows the investment in some types of financial instruments, just by asking a few simple questions about them.
If a small/medium Portuguese bank can do it, how difficult could it be?
LOL. Thanks, old chap.
Very Interesting
took very EXPENSIVE legal counsel that said NO
(I still think this doesnt change anything)
(ps I am VERY drunk!!!)
