Autoinvest buy timing

Hello,
Very good to see that the Autoinvest feature is now available to single stocks as well.

Would it be possible to define a different standard time when the market buy is triggered on the autoinvest (both Pies and single stocks) feature?

Because executing a market order at market opening is typically worse than after 1-2 hours.

Thanks

What’s the source of this? In my experience the opposite has been true.

I guess there are probably statistics, and maybe it depends on single stocks as well. However, when the market opens, most of the “market orders” execute and so I think most times the price is higher.
However, I think that being able to set the time would be an interesting feature. Then, each person sets the time that prefers.

The ability to set a custom trigger time for AutoInvest is something we’ve heard from a number of members, and it’s on our radar. We’ll keep you posted if there’s any news on this one.

Xetra calculates the iXLM (intraday Xetra Liquidity Measure). An XLM of 100 would essentially mean 1% implicit costs for the transaction. On https://www.cashmarket.deutsche-boerse.com/cash-en/Data-Tech/statistics/etf-etp-statistics you can download the data, but only on a per ETF basis.

For convenience I calculated average and median (note: these are values between 50 and 20, so 0.5% to 0.2% implicit costs. Don’t be confused by the , as decimal point):

The first half hour is the worst time according to that data. From my experience I would say especially the first 5 minutes are bad, which is exactly when orders are executed here.

What’s bugging me the most, is that the self rebalancing doesn’t quite work the way it is currently. The funds are autoinvested at 8 am, based on closing prices of the last trading day. Xetra opens at 9 am and the prices can have changed by then. In my opinion it is a flaw to have it invest when the exchange is closed.

Changing the time of autoinvest to a time when both US and Europe exchanges are open would already be enough for me. I don’t need the option to choose is freely (though that would be greatly appreciated as well).

This is also my biggest pain point with Trading 212 at the moment. Other than that I think it is close to perfect.
