An alternative might be Gulf Investment Fund (GIF). It has a decent track record but you’d have to pay stamp duty, a near-2% ongoing charge and the FX fee as it’s listed in USD. BRFI, another trust, also has a fair chunk in UAE and Saudi as well as other ‘frontier’ markets, but it’s similarly expensive and risky.
