Exact Share Number On A Certain Date?

Hi,

I hope Iā€™m not doubling up on a previous question. If so, mods please merge.

I am wondering if itā€™s possible to find the data on the platform, for how many shares I owned of a particular equity on a particular date and time??

Iā€™m trying to build a spreadsheet for my trading, but without the exact number of shares on a given (start) date, I canā€™t accurately journal in my starting data.

Thanks for your help.

(Possibly one for @Momchil.G or @Bogi.H)

Only by going into your history of that particular stock and working it out yourself.

You could export a lot more data and then sort and filter if you wanted to do it a different way.

But currently, thereā€™s nothing on T212ā€™s platform where you can go and see how many shares of something you had at a prior date (again, except the history list & data export).

You can download two types of data from the app that will help you build a spreadsheet regarding your activity - ā€˜Confirmation of holdingsā€™ & ā€˜Trading historyā€™.

In the ā€˜Confirmation of holdingsā€™ document, youā€™ll see the total quantity you own as of the date you export the document.

You can get that document by following the steps below:

  1. Tap on the Menu tab
  2. Open the Documents section
  3. Tap the ā€˜Confirmation of Holdingsā€™ section
  4. Choose a period and generate your document

In the ā€˜Trading dataā€™ document, youā€™ll find information about your orders and the number of shares you bought/sold over a specific period.

Hereā€™s how to get such a document:

  1. Go to Menu
  2. Select History
  3. Tap on the export button.
  4. Select the timeframe and data you want to export (e.g. orders, transactions, dividends, etc.)
  5. The file will be downloaded to your device.

Alternatively, you can check the history of each stock youā€™ve invested in, as @Vio suggested. To do so, click on the stock and scroll down to the bottom of the screen.

Hey Vio,

Thanks very much for the rapid reply.

OK. Grand. Understood. I think Iā€™ll go ahead and download the maximum amount of info that I can, as I just spotted that thereā€™s only a yearā€™s worth of backdated data available.

Thanks again for helping out. Much appreciated.

Hey @Bogi.H ,

Thanks so much for the reply.

Thatā€™s the info I needed! Excellent. Thanks. I learned something today!! :grinning:

I donā€™t see the ā€œTrading Dataā€ category anywhere in the Documents section. Is that you referring to the Confirmation document above, or a different thing?

Oh, thatā€™s just fantastic. So basically a filtered history for a given stock? Great stuff!

Thanks again to @Vio and yourself for helping out so quickly. Much appreciated.

Regards.

Youā€™re welcome. Iā€™m glad I managed to help.

 Iā€™m referring to the .csv file, which you can download from the ā€˜Historyā€™ ā†’ ā€˜Ordersā€™ section.

Perfect @Bogi.H . Thanks again. CT

Hi again @Bogi.H ,

Resurrecting this thread, as Iā€™m still working on my spreadsheet.

This has all been very helpful, but now Iā€™ve hit the snag of tracking my cash position.

I had naturally assumed it would be part of the ā€œConfirmation of holdingsā€ data set, but maybe Iā€™m being dense here, as I canā€™t find a reference to the daily cash position anywhere.

As ever, any help you can offer is much appreciated.

Regards.

CT

Just to be sure - youā€™re after information about the free funds in your account at the end of each day, correct?

Hi Bogi,

Well, a record of the cash position at any or all times would be VERY helpful.

If Iā€™m doing multiple trades during a day, I can see a complete snapshot of my portfolio in realtime, including number of stock holdings AND cash position, but reconstructing this history trade by trade for later analysis is proving difficult.

Your pointing me towards the ā€œConfirmation of holdingsā€ was super helpful, but even that doesnā€™t appear to show the cash position, only the shares.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for clarifying. The Activity Statement should be helpful in that case. This statement is automatically sent on the day after you have some trading activity in your account. The subject of the email is ā€™ Account Activity statement for DD/MM/YYā€™.

This statement contains the following information:

Account Overview: A summary of your account(s), including the current status and daily movements.

Open Positions & Pending Orders: Comprehensive details of your active positions and any pending orders.

Executed Trades: A record of all trades executed on the day, including date, asset, price, and quantity.

Other Transactions: A breakdown of non-trading activities such as deposits, withdrawals, fees, and dividends, keeping you informed of all account inflows and outflows.

Hi Bogi,

Yes, that report is always helpful, but I donā€™t see a cash position anywhere.

I mean, for instance, your systems must have a record of the exact cash position at all times in order to work out:

a) the amount available (or at least 95% of available) for use in trading, and

b) calculating daily interest.

It seems like itā€™s not possible to access this info after the fact.

For example, the other day I was trying to work out my total position snapshot (shares holdings + available cash) at a given moment in the trading day when Iā€™d sold out a position, in order to capture the portfolio value at that exact time.

I couldnā€™t figure out how to reconstruct the needed info completely without a ā€œblow-by-blowā€ account of the cash availability. The trade history in the app gives all the relevant details of the shares bought and sold, but no similar details of the cash breakdown.

Thanks for your help.

PS,

Even in the full statement that I can download, itā€™s as if there is one column missing from the statement showing a running ā€œCash Totalā€ position.

It has every other detail including interest payments (which technically ends up contributing to the cash account) OTHER than the available cash account total after each transaction.

Thank you for the clarification. I understand how having more flexible options would be beneficial for tracking all account movements. While there are no immediate plans to modify the exportable files, we will conduct a full review later this year and consider adding a cash section.

Hey Bogi,

Thanks for that.

Yes, it seems like a standard accounting practice oversight to omit the cash position from the statements and history data.

No trades can even happen without accounting for the full cash position at all times, so itā€™s a strange metric to choose to leave so inaccessible.

I look forward to an update in due course.

Thanks again for all the great work you and your colleagues do. The platform is really remarkable, and I truly appreciate all the efforts put into keeping it running so smoothly.

Cheers.
