Fx fees question

Sorry new to it all

Fx fees on some shares for example might be impact -5%

Im in the UK so currently let say £1 = $1.35 usd

If it goes to £1/$1.25 will that impact -5% increase or decrease

Sorry if stupid question

You’re better off running your question through AI e.g. ChatGPT or Grok. You’ll get a good response, just ensure you clarify what you mean by -5% impact as I don’t personally understand your question fully.

AI response

The fx fee is 0.15%. What you are referring to is “fx impact” which isn’t a fee it is simply showing you the affect of changing exchange rates on the local currency value of your position.

If the exchange rate goes to $1.25 then your $ priced investments will be worth more in gbp so the fx impact will be positive. 1.35/1.25 = 1.08 so the fx impact would be +8% but it isn’t a fee

If you use the invest account you can hold multiple currencies so may not even incur the fx impact even if you sold your position because you could sell to usd. If you use ISA then you don’t have that option
