Grouping investments (no pies)

Hello,

I’d like to be able to group stocks, just to tidy up my account and keep track of certain themes.
Until now I had to use pies to do so, but I really don’t like them, I think they are useless and buggy.
For example you cannot easily sell certain companies stocks as you can only withdraw a sum of money, not a certain number of stocks.
I think Pies should be improved or deleted, I personally need to be able to set limit sell orders for stocks in a group/pie as I would do with single stocks.

The only way of doing that is by exporting the stocks from the pie, but it’s tedious and doesn’t serve the purpose of tracking how a macro theme is going because as soon as you export the stocks from the pie they don’t count anymore towards the performance of the pie.

If you really love pies and don’t want to upgrade them or delete them, just allow people to create folders to group stocks. It would be cool if those groups were featuring a performance tracking as it happens for pies.

The concept of TAGS is better than Pies, because they create a virtual grouping which is flexible. Pies are hard-coded into functionality. Can’t move a holding. Pie can stay but it could work with tags and one needs to be able to move holdings in and out without having to sell and buy them back, which I have done, and it unnecessarily costs me. I had to sell my S&P500 shares and buy them back under a Pie just so I could have a scheduled payment each month.

Why did you sell and buy back rather than Import them to the Pie?

I think pies in general have just been implemented as somewhat of an ETF: longterm investment, mostly focussed on passively adding money regularly, and rarely being modified. And we, due to lack of general functionality, we trying to use for different purposes.

I wish T212 would just offer a way to split an account into several pots. If each of these can hold cash, and allows the same actions we currently have outside of pies. This would allow everybody to do everything they need. As long as you can easily move cash between these pots.

I had no idea that is what the Import and Export did! I build apps for a living and those terms are usually reserved for importing and exporting inside an app or account. I’ll have to try it now.
