Omit CFDs in Search Results for ISA and Invest Account

It would be nice not to see CFDs in the search results when I’m in the ISA or Invest Account. Definitely not as the first in the list. Also why is there no way to completely opt out from CFDs (I don’t want to see them in general, I would never gamble my money on them)?

If you are searching for a stock, just click the stock tab to limit search results to stocks? That’s what I do. Like you, I have no interest in CFDs (or leveraged funds).

I have completely ignored those tabs, to be honest! Though, it’s still one extra click/tap every time I search because it doesn’t remember my last selection but at least I have a choice of extra click vs. to read a longer list. Thanks for the comment!

I also wondered if there is any logic in the list order at all, specifically for stocks with multiple exchange listing. Naively, I was hoping for an order by either primary listing or higher liquidity (trading volume) but it seems rather random. :person_shrugging:

The search function returns full matches from the ticker first, then results from searching the full company name, then results from within the ā€˜About’ section which is where I think that weird stuff that comes back from the search results sometimes comes from. A good search that shows how this works is to search for ā€˜Shell’ and you will get results that include shell companies and companies doing something with shellfish. But I find that useful as often there are useful words in that about section about the businesses owned or merged with and this can help. Want to buy the shares in the company that owns Plusnet? Seach Plusnet and you get BT Group.
