Hello Trading 212 team and fellow investors,
I’m writing to propose a feature that would make a lot of sense, especially now that the Multi-Currency Account is available:
The option to receive dividends in the original currency of the asset (e.g. USD, EUR), instead of having them automatically converted to the base currency.
Currently, even with Multi-Currency enabled, dividends are still converted into the base currency — which limits the usefulness of holding multiple currencies and removes flexibility for long-term investors who manage exposure across several markets.
Why this matters:
- Many of us invest internationally and wish to reinvest or withdraw in the asset’s native currency (especially USD/EUR).
- Automatic conversions reduce transparency, even if no FX fee is applied.
- Other platforms like Interactive Brokers and DEGIRO offer this feature — it is becoming standard in modern investing platforms.
- It would give investors more control over currency risk, taxation, and portfolio management.
Suggested implementation:
- Add a toggle or account setting: “Receive dividends in asset currency” (default: OFF).
- If turned ON, dividends would remain in the currency in which the company issued them.
I believe this would be a simple yet powerful improvement to the Multi-Currency feature and I encourage other users to support this request by replying or upvoting.
Thank you for considering this idea and for continuing to improve the platform!
