Portfolio transfers

Unfortunately, we don’t have a specific timeframe to share, as this largely depends on IBKR. It’s not something we can commit to for any particular quarter, but we’ll keep this moving and be in touch the moment we have an update.

has anyone successfully done an in specie ISA transfer using a middle man?

I can’t wait to transfer out especially it’s the new FY and money is just sitting in my current account.

something like T212 → interactive investor → interactive brokers

honestly there are several questions all over the internet (mostly reddit :stuck_out_tongue: ) asking if anyone was ever able to transfer out from T212 in-specie, I have yet to see a “yes I did” kind of answer.

selling things on T212 will cost a fortune…

Sorry, not really helping with your actual question.

But why would your question be relevant for the money sitting in your current account? Just put it into an ISA and transfer it later, if necessary. Even if you don’t invest it, at least take the interest in the meantime. You literally can’t do any worse than having it sitting in the current account for nought. Or am I missing something?

you are completely right… you are not helping. not a problem tho, no one actually is, no where  The in-specie transfer advertised might as well be a myth.

the rest of your post is naught.

That money already earns 3 something percent, and moving it into an ISA for a month will do what? save maybe 20 pennies on tax? (that is, if that interest from just 20k puts you over the interest free limit)

buying/selling something is probably worse with the fees, unless in-specie transfer is possible, hence the relevance.

the part you might be missing could be the incompetency (potentially intentional) T212 displays, I don’t want to give them another random reason like: “oh we can’t transfer fragmented ISAs”

I’m well aware transferring fragmented ISAs is not a problem, but at some point (may be here, may be in another post) they even said something like they could not do “this” transfer because “that” broker was using CREST and not euroclear (although crest and euroclear are owned by the same company)

I did In Specie transfers from and to Trading 212 to and from Hargreaves Lansdown and iweb(now Scottish Widows).
I did go smoothly within 2-3 weeks period of time.

If you have money sitting ‘ducks’ and you want to move T212 S&S ISA to IB, I would open a S&S ISA to IB, add these new money, invest.

Use a In Specie transfer from T212 to another broker and then another one to IB( I know the do not allow direct transfer T212 to IB)

HL and II offers some incentive to transfer to them, but you need to keep money for a year(or so before you receive it).

thank you. looks like that’s the way to go. I already use both HL and II anyway (for SIPP). IB will be the new one.
