Qep problem and i lost money

Yes and what is being plotted on the chart?

The SELL price.

If you need to look at the BUY chart instead. You are buying when you close, correct?

Everything we said is correct. What is the confusion? What is the question?

ITS trading 212 bug. i wanna sell . look this even show u i sell but this thing doing oposite thing

Going short and SELL then look at the buy chart, you need to focus on the BUY price.

Going long look at the sell chart (which is what you are seeing)

Have you really been doing this two years? This is like the first thing you learn.

Is that an egg on face moment that you realise you are looking at the sell plotted on the chart, or you still don’t get it?

Listen, you got lots of good advice. Correct advice.

Accept it or not, but everything we said is true. I think you have an issue with understanding here.

Third time, the blue line here is not what you are looking at. The purple line where the buy is at. This would need to be below where you got in (red dotted). If it’s above you’ll close at a loss.

I closed?.1.09? And 1.16 when this stock coes so high 2 weeks ago.

And you sold at 0.98. So you lost money.

Please see my post above, where I have drawn the buy price. Does that make sense? You have been looking at the sell price, this is not what you do. You need to look at the buy when closing a short.

When you open a sell position you are going short, this means that when you open the position you do so at the sell price and when you close you do so at the buy price.

This is simply the opposite to what happens when you open a buy position (going long), you open at the buy price and close at the sell price.

As you can see in your own screenshot, the “closed @” price is HIGHER than the open price shown on the left. You therefore BOUGHT at a HIGHER price than you SOLD - so you lose money. To profit from going short (opening a sell position) you need to BUY/CLOSE at a LOWER price than where you SOLD/OPEN.

Remember: buy low sell high

Ive explained this four or five times now. Good luck, I’ll pass the baton to you.

I really hope @ahtibuschmann1 had that oh shit moment, and realised we were being helpful.

I assume they’ve gone through two years of doing it wrong and the spread has always been tight enough not to notice, and paid a fee instead.

My thoughts exactly. They may have had blind luck all this time.

It’s always “interesting” when people claim years of experience but struggle with basic things like checking spread or accounting for spread in the displayed chart…

Or when they try to “sell” what they’ve already sold.

It’s a shame CFD on mobile can’t be flipped quickly to show the buy price on the chart.

That way we could have given instructions on how to see the buy plotted instead to hopefully drill it home.

I can’t see with 2yrs experience someone would make the mistake. Even after 2hrs experience it should be obvious what’s plotted on the chart is the sell price as it matches the same in the top left next to “sell”. :man_shrugging:t2:

@David are there plans to do this flipping between buy/sell charts on app? (And also in the Invest/ISA to plot the bid instead?)
