yeah, I think 212 has simply made the decision that they no longer wish to accommodate those types of investors outside of the CFD platform which is fair enough
Ibkr should comply to the same compliance, and thay didnāt caped.
Thatās not true at all. Companies are free to create their own risk profiles and rules.
What I find strange is 212 is the only broker that openly has this.
Iām not suggesting others donāt, but i am suggesting I havenāt been made aware of any others doing it.
As far as I understood these limits are WIP, so we are free to request increases of the limits on specific stocks.
Just thinking out loudā¦
Is this another way to help short sellers?
I mean if a stock is highly shorted and it gets squeezed T212 can use this āriskā management reason to restrict people from buying hence killing the short squeeze?
Sounds a bit unethical to me.
No you canāt.
Because thatās the ultimate goal of every brokerage agents in the world. ![]()
Of course not. Itās just to protect you.
On cfds you can literally lose every single penng but hey ho no restrictions on there, i wonder why.
Yes. On some level it makes no sense.
Cfd is the more profitable side for a trading platform.
Err, CFDs always had restrictions, on every instruments. What are you blabbing about?
Now now, No need to speak in that way. You must be referring to when short shares are not available. If you think CFDs dont carry a greater risk then you must be delusional.
I never said anything about its riskiness ; if youāve spent any time around here youād know i actively warn people off CFDs, and especially against T212 pricing of thoses.
You complained about unfairness, citing the lack of restrictions on CFDs, Iāve pointed out your statement just isnāt true.
And uh, no.

Can I request CSH be reviewed, todayās volume was 1m, that maximum holding is extremely low
Sure, that sounds reasonable, @DaveW - the new quantities for CSH are:
Max Open Q - 45000, max trade Q - 9000.
Buying shares is restricted but I canāt find it on your list. Could you please remove the restriction, thanks!!!
There appears to be quite a few companies that are restricted but not on the list, makes it difficult to manage your account for example if you sell up a position with a view to re buying at a lower price but then canāt get your full position back. I have asked 212 to maintain a āliveā list of all restrictions that we can refer to, shouldnāt be too hard should it???
i have not noticed this until some transactions in my pie are randomly cancelledā¦
support did not know jack about what was happening and recommended I remove shares from pie and sell that way. When I did, I got the error message that transaction limit for dominos pizza (DOM.L) is 27 shares⦠which is £66.69 in value as of this post. I have to do 50 transactions to execute this trade?
has anyone looked into legality and reasoning for this arbitrary restriction? Iāve tried to skim through the threads above but did not immediately see anything.
