Stock News Tab Gone?

Hi, I’ve been using T212 for over a year now and one of the most vital features has just disappeared from the app.

Under each stock there was a news tab, with a history of the main news that has affected the stock. Of course it was basic, and I always did more research on my own, but that news tab is/was a great feature.

So, does anyone know why it has disappeared ?

Thanks.

Welcome to the Community, @IsThisForever :waving_hand:

The ā€˜News’ tab is now located under the ā€˜Feed’ tab. Once you tap on the ā€˜See all’ button, you’ll be taken to a new screen that shows both the ā€˜Posts’ and ā€˜News’ tabs. Still, you can enable for news to show in the feed by clicking the ā€˜See all’ button and then hitting the cog wheel at the top right corner, then selecting ā€˜News in instrument feed’

This is awful, why would you do that? I want to see the factual news, not the opinions of random people.

I have to agree that this seems like a regression of functionality. Actual, vetted, impartial news is FAR more important than any stuff we-the-community write about a stock.

T212 - I understand you want to tidy stuff in the interface, but hiding important features behind 3 extra clicks and countless more API calls required to display the community feed is not the way my friends!

A ā€œFeedā€ tab only exists if there are posts. If there are news items only, such as RCAT, ALO, PSIX or many others, there is no ā€œFeedā€ tab. So where do we find the news then?

How about companies that do not have a feed bar such as krispy kreme?

Hi, thanks Momchil,

I use my web browser on a laptop when I access T212.

Notwithstanding that your directions here rely upon there being a community on the instrument, then:
SEE-ALL - SETTINGS - ENABLE NEWSFEED IN INSTRUMENT
But 99% of instruments have no community whereby I can tap the SEE-ALL.

Perhaps these features work on the phone app but they do not work for me.

I have enabled news as you have indicated - it does not work.

Not that enabling news on every instrument individually would be all that convenient or efficient, if that is how it works. I don’t know as it doesn’t work for me.

I thank you for your reply but I would like to register my disapproval of this ā€œupdateā€ / downgrade.

Of course, the T212 newsfeed is not a source for doing proper financial instrument research.
No, of course, we should not base out decisions upon that newsfeed, but I would argue that choosing the community feed of memes, emojis and emotion, over the factual, cold, hard financial newsfeed … well, this is a dumbfounding declaration of the dumbification of T212s customers.

Are you dealing with children or adults ? It is clear these changes were made on a Friday after a nice green, bullish week.
It has long been Red and Bearish…I can surmise these changes have had to wait in the wings for the right moment.

It would have been better to upgrade the news feature. Not downgrade. Work towards and all in one stop, partner with some respectable financial news outlet…get loyal clients offered a discount to that service rather than this deception.

Another absolutely unfathomable design choice by T212. Has anyone checked in with your UI team to see if they are ok?

Many tickers don’t have the ā€˜feed’ so where on earth do we find the news associated with those tickers…

Via the ā€˜Re-order screen’ function, the section is called ā€˜Social’ but on the main ticker page you’ve renamed it to ā€˜Feed’. Inside the feed (where it exists) I can now see news (at this point I’m already nearly past caring). Then to put it all back as it was you’ve said to click the cog, toggle the switch labelled ā€˜News in instrument feed’. After that… I still don’t have news back in the main instrument panel.

If T212 wants to deprecate News fully, this seems like an excellent stepping stone.

Bonkers decision.

Thank you all for the provided feedback so far - I have shared it with the team and it will be considered going forward.

@Cartboysquarepants @Trindade95 @_SP Completely removing the feed from such instruments wasn’t intentional. Our team found what caused this after it was flagged and an update was released yesterday. You can now see the ā€˜Feed’ tab displayed for such instruments with official news only.

If you toggle the option, the feed will combine official news with posts from the instrument’s community. However, if there is no recent news, the feed may display only the newest posts from the instrument’s community.

Looking into this :eyes:

Your UI design team seems to have a notable gap between what they think may be good and what the user community thinks may be good.

Perhaps a little interaction with the community on design changes would not go amiss, for example:

Hey, we are thinking of doing X and Y and Z as per [screenshots]. Can we have constructive comments by [deadline] so we can consider end-user feedback.

Not hard.

It’s clear no-one in the design team or whoever signed off this garbage actually uses 212.

I am actively looking for a new platform.

I may only be a small drop of the 25 billion in assets but I guarantee I’m not alone.

I’m doing the same and note other comments on these forums about competitors. I have loved T212 as a simple service that made it easy for a new trader (and yes I have made a profit.)
The early T212 screens were fantastic for trading and learning.
Now, I’m working harder and harder to keep track of my trades and targets, as features are removed here.
I’m actively looking for an alternative.

The changes to the Navy theme was the first red flag, almost a month and nothing has been done about offering the old theme back as at least an option in the settings, but nope, completely disregarded it seems.

Now all these changes to the feed, can’t hide anything like the recommended pie charts or anything, its so cluttered now, i wish there was an option to customize the info below stocks so you could just permanently hide things you don’t want cluttering your screen, but that will never happen.

The news part is much more useful than seeing other users questions about stock going up or down in the feed section. It would be much more useful if i could hide feed (as in other people opinions/questions) part and see just the actual news about the company. And so should see that other users who ask questions about stock going down or up to get an answer to the question.

I hear you, every week they make more and more UI changes that take more and more information away, things are now hidden, require multiple clicks to reach (if available at all anymore), all these changes are 1. not necessary, 2. not wanted. They are re-inventing the perfectly round wheel into a square wheel.
I am on a discord, we all hate the recent changes and several of us are now looking at alternative platforms, the pace at which the T212 UI is regressing is confounding.

This is a real poor UI change. As others have said, official news is much more critical than the posts of some unknown user hiding behind an avatar.
The Stock News was probably one of the most useful fetures I have frequently accessed. If there is no social news, News cannot be accessed, despite what your instructions say. Poor this one and got me thinking if this app really has user experience at the heart of decisions.
Please revert this soon as possible, thanks.

I see there trying to improve the Ui can we make the fonts a bit bolder and the boarders also portfolio value would be nice and a dividend calendar only asking as it seems the main focus is the ui at the moment maybe trying to make room for other features and accounts like sipp and lifetime and a better chart would be nice to the best I have use was shares, stake and Ft

The stock news tab has disappeared. You can get it mixed in with the social feed (which is awful) but only if there is already a social feed for that stock. If there isn’t then you can’t get the news.

Also where there is a social feed then I have to specifically ask for the news to be shown for each individual stock. Isn’t this the wrong way round? Surely news display should be the default. News is more important than someone’s screenshot of their dividend payment.

It’s crazy to me that there’s no communication regarding all this negative feedback to the changes. Will it be addressed in any way?
