Is there a list maintained anywhere of stocks that have a close only status on T212? If not, can there be one? Ideally I’d like to know when it happened, information on what caused them to be set as such, and whether it’s intended to be permanent or not.
There isn’t a dedicated list that shows all stocks currently in close-only mode. However, whenever a stock is placed in close-only, you’ll find a trading notice on the instrument’s page indicating the restriction.
Close-only mode is dynamic and can change depending on market conditions, so it’s difficult to say whether the status is temporary or permanent. Therefore, we don’t have plans to introduce a list of instruments in close-only mode.
As for the reasons behind the close-only mode - the two most common are:
- Increased risks related to volatility, price slippage, and order execution delays
- Risk management checks
I’m not sure I’d call that answer a solution. I guess if you’re not interested in maintaining a list then so be it, but knowing that it has happened by stumbling across it and being told typical reasons why it happens isn’t quite the same as knowing when and why it happened to which particular stocks, and if the decision has been taken to make it permanent. Is that kind of information likely to be forthcoming if we ask about specific cases?
