Too many pies with duplicates

I have a few pies now but I have noticed that some overlap and have things like nvidia, apple, Microsoft etc in both pies

I have an almost daily dividend pie, a tech pie and my core pie that is vanguard all world vanguard sp500 ishares core plus a few bonds and utilities.

Should I, get rid of, some, of, the duplicating stocks or just keep them as is?

You can either keep everything as now, or you could export the investment from one pie and import it into the other pie. So instead of having MSFT etc in two pies you could have it all in one pie. You can export/import between pies without needing to sell the shares.
So if you have 1 share in pie A and 1 share in pie B you could combine the two shares into, say, pie A.

I’ve been in the same predicament…

I decided to un-duplicate so I know exactly what stocks I have, what Pie, and how much.

I find it useful to have an XLS of pies and the holdings too; but then I invest in far more companies than others.

However, there isnt really a hard and fast rule; do what works for you.

Are these community pies? Do you understand the pie you are copying or you just selecting random pies?

The thing to remember is you are making a copy of the pie, you are then free to alter if needs be. So if you have the same stock in each, then work out what exposure you want to that stock and get rid of the excess. Either remove that stock from all the other pies or make your own pie that takes the best of each pie.

#1 question for stocks whether buying individually or as part of a pie, is why are you buying it. If you don’t know, then you need to do some research and understand. It will save duplication or lost income when you decide to dump one pie for another (especially if they share common stock)
