US stocks on EU exchanges

For some investors it make sense to buy US stocks on EU exchanges instead of US exchanges.

Because of different tax treatment of the income from capital gains on EU exchanges.

The non-European exchanges are discriminated by the tax laws of some countries.

For example, in Bulgaria capital gains made via trading stocks on EU exchanges are not taxed.

However, on Trading212 is not possible to buy US stocks via European exchanges.

US stocks on EU exchanges are usually traded in EUR (not in USD). This will save currency exchange fee for the investor.

T212 have already some US Stocks traded in EU stock exchanges and in EUR.

T212 is growing the US stocks supply in European stock exchanges and making them fractional.

Example: Tesla → 2 EUR versions on EU Stock Exchanges (including fractional)

The new search feature works! Just tested it:

I found multiple US stocks listed on Xetra:

It would be great if there are more.

Hmm… It looks like the search is not working correctly. I do not see Tesla on this list. And maybe other companies. Can you give examples of other US companies listed on European exchanges not seen in the above list?

I can confirm that Tesla can be found when the country filter is cleared:

Can you confirm that dividends from US stocks listed on Xetra are with correct withholding tax on dividends (according to the double taxation treaty)?

I know that when US stocks are listed on US exchanges the withholding tax on dividends is correctly applied. But I am not sure if this is the case with US stocks on European exchanges.

I managed to copy/paste the list of all stocks to LibreOffice Calc.

With grep I got a list of stocks with ISIN starting with US and containing EUR in the lines:

$ grep ^US list-isin-first.csv  | grep EUR

Some Stocks and ETFs aren’t yet categorized in each country, stock exchange, category. That why if you use any filter some Stocks and ETFs don’t show up. But there are in T212. It’s better to search without filters to found everything.

Looks like this. I reported this bug.

In the meantime I made my own search and published the lists on IPFS (see the links in my previous post, I edited it).

The T212 search inefficiencies could be overcome with a Morningstar integration that also bring the option to download/export to Excel file, a full list of all instruments present in T212, that you made using your IT skills (if you do it, T212 can also do it).

Using your database file about the T212 supply and categorized by instrument type, stock exchanges and markets: (It can have some errors in categorization)

Everyone can take some conclusions. And your database could help to fact check.
