What's the difference between earnings date and dividend payment date

I was searching for a good tool to track when should I buy stocks for receiving a dividend and I know this is known as ex-date and the other thing I need is to know when my divided will be paid and so I found Yahoo finance as a perfect tool, however Iā€™m not sure what is the difference between earnings date and dividend payment date. If anyone is using this tool, can you please help?

Hi

The Div Payment Date is the date on which the company will issue payment of the dividend to qualifying shareholders. (Allow a couple of more days to receve it from broker).

The Earnings Date is the date on which the company releases to the public details of its quarterly income statement including the EPS or Earnings Per Share figure.

So I need to use Div Payment Date to track when my dividend will be paid.
