Some months ago I put my mind to learn how to trade.
I’m no rushing into this and I’m not looking for anything bet-like, risk management is my second name
One thing I’m really missing is a community (more than one, even better) of people actively trading and learning how to trade. I suspect that the most active ones are around some specific day trading platforms or tools, but really I don’t have a clue.
Any suggestions?
It would be good to have a forum (here or mobile) for analysis and discussion.
Investopedia is a great source of info and a go to reference.
Be wary of youtube “experts”
I have a book on my other computer that’s on google books and will try to remember to give a link to it.
I’ve been working on writing my own scripts to provide indicators, back-testing strategy and scanner. They are getting fairly complete so I was thinking of posting perhaps a weekly post for discussion but it takes a lot of time to post detailed analysis because of the time required to markup/annotate and post charts.
There is a Canadian youtube channel (TraderTVLive) that’s linked to a funded trading academy/trading room. Some of the presenters talk some rubbish and get a bit over-excited at a 20c profit (and have a questionable success rate on trades) but a month or so ago they did start to do a midday tutorial session to explain different chart analysis, trading methods, etc. Basically they were only reading from other sources (probably investopedia or similar) but for a beginner I think some of the tutorials were ok introductions. You can look at the list of youtube videos that they have and I think the tutorials were separately recorded so you can look through those. (48) Live Trading by TraderTV Live - YouTube
I have recently watched a couple of videos by this person who seems to make reasonable comments: https://www.youtube.com/@ViktoriyaMedia
I’ve also watched a couple of this persons videos and he seems to explain his thinking fairly clearly. I wouldn’t simply follow what someone on YT says but I like people who actually explain themselves in detail because I can then learn and then think for myself (48) Gareth Soloway - YouTube

book. I haven’t read it fully but it is widely recommended but seems a bit long winded in places.

Depending on if you know your style and basis of trading, I can only recommend and fullt endorse Mitch Ray TA.
On YT and has a discord.
Runs a great free swing trading community based on technicals. Full of knowledge and education.
Takes no ad money, no promos, sponsorship, paid adverts etc. Hard to find integrity like this in these spaces.
I literally cancelled a couple of years of my life to learn and get stuck in. Been a satisfied paid member/student for a couple of years now, met him too. Details of premium can be found on his YT etc, and its all there for you to decide. It can seem complex to learn, but his methodology, which are teachings from the greats, R Wyckoff, Wells Wilder, T Bulkowski, Scott Carney (which he has a great relationship with) and Mark Douglas.
DM me if you want my username in his community.
On a side note, I would strongly recommend against the likes of Gareth Soloway. He is a badly polished grifter and a total meme, with no real basis/education behind his trades which are poorly executed gamble plays. Along with anyone else with open mouthed youtube thumbnails.

I’ve been watching a few videos by Ross Cameron (Warrior Trading) on YouTube. His approach seems pretty difficult in practice, but he can explain some of the basics techniques quite well.
A bit concerned for the number of traders selling their products, and monetising their viewing stats, but without a proven track of successful trades. Not necessarily fake, but certainly exaggerating their knowledge, experience and trading success. E.g. https://youtu.be/jy4k_GVLEko?si=lOKR5o4-nSdJm4lw
There’s even a Jedi Traders Academy !
Impostors, of course. I’m the one and only
Warrior trading is all clickbait. Getting paid with clicks/views.

A tip for youtube… use this flag “yoursearchterm before:2020” in the search bar.
You will get results before covid. Before everyone became a youtuber, plagiarised anything and everything, bastardised it and started opening their mouths as wide as poss. lol
