ADR fees clarification?

Hey all.

I have received an email from T212 telling me ADR fees are incoming… How do I know which stocks attract these fees?

I couldn’t really understand what it was on about..

It’ll be a foreign company listed in the US, like ASML, TSM, BABA etc. It’s a custody fee to cover costs. ADR fees mostly come out of dividends though they can be passed on separately by the broker to the client too.

I switched out one of my holdings recently to buy the underlying company on the Hong Kong exchange, partly to swerve such a fee but also because it was a more liquid listing.

It is nice of T212 to warn us in advance but it would be even nicer to have a filter option in the portfolio to quickly find all owned stocks that will be affected.

Reading their helpdesk it looks like they offer a ā€˜free’ overdraft so if caught unawares you can pay them back (T212) without being penalised short term.
