Hi, this question comes in 2 parts.
I have a ready made HSBC GIC portfolio and I am trying to transfer it to trading 212. They say it can be done but the only HSBC account I can see on the transfer list is a share dealing one that my account numbers don’t match. Has anyone transferred funds from an HSBC GIC account to trading 212 and if so how was it done?
Secondly, if it can’t be transferred I could sell portfolio and move the funds to trading 212. My understanding is I can sell to the value of my original investment tax free and then currently, this tax year I can sell/make up to £3000 profit tax free also. And then do the same again in the next tax year. If I stay below the capital gains tax free allowance, do I still need to inform HMRC/complete a self assessment?
Many thanks
