EU extended (24/5?) trading

Hello there.

I would like to ask if there are any plans to expand the after-hours trading to European stocks too. I mostly trade EU stocks, but having XETRA trading times open at 9:00 a.m. and closing at 5:30 p.m. is really a short timeframe, especially since most EU brokers allow 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. (11 p.m.) trading on EU stocks too. In fact, Trading 212 has the shortest trading window for EU stocks I’ve encountered on any broker so far. This, of course, also extends to PAR, AMS, etc.-listed stocks too.

I would really appreciate it if there could be some extension to the trading times, even if it’s, of course, OTC then.

Greetings

This was originally discussed in this thread. I’ve already shared the suggestion with the team, but unfortunately, there are still no updates.

Thank you for your reply.

Whilst I understand that the team surely has a lot to work on, I am really looking forward for them to pick up attention on this matter again!

It is actually quite surprising to me that the trading hours for European stocks are THAT short on Trading 212 compared to other places… I don’t think that’s a good thing.

Greetings

Hi @Veselin.V,

I’ve been giving this some more thought over the past few days, and I wanted to follow up to ensure this topic doesn’t slip off the radar. I’d like to share my perspective as a customer to help the team understand just how critical this issue is, not just for users, but for Trading 212’s competitiveness in the German market.

I work standard hours, usually from 7-8 AM to 5-6 PM, Monday through Friday. When I leave for work, the EU exchanges on T212 aren’t open yet, and by the time I get home, they are already closed. This makes it incredibly difficult for working people like me (and probably a lot of others) to actively trade or manage our portfolios during an open market. I know that spreads and liquidity are lower in later hours, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a good 7, 8, or 9 PM trade waiting for me.

Right now, compared to other neo-brokers in Germany, Trading 212 offers by far the shortest trading hours for EU stocks. Because of this severe limitation, I’m genuinely starting to question whether T212 is the right long-term broker for me. If I knew that extended trading hours (I don’t need 24/5) were on the roadmap for the near future, I would gladly stay, as I am 100% satisfied with the rest of the platform. However, the current EU trading schedule is extremely restrictive for anyone with a day job and a blow to Trading 212’s competitiveness.

Could you provide some insight into why Trading 212 is currently keeping these hours so short, and whether there are any active plans to expand them?

Thank you for your support in this matter.

@Chungi I understand your point and why extended trading hours for European stocks would make a real difference for clients who work standard hours.

I’ve raised this with the team; however, it isn’t something we can offer at the moment. If that changes in the future, I’ll post an update in this and the other thread.
