I’m trying to create simple 50 and 200 day moving averages.
I open a chart for the stock.
Click Indicators
Search for Moving Average and click it which adds it to the chart.
I click on the 3 dots and click Settings to see what the current moving average is.
The main problem is that the Settings view doesn’t give you any clue what any of the settings are!
It has Length (which defaults to 9), which you’d think should be obvious enough, but then there is also Smoothing Length. A simple moving average does not have two lengths so that’s totally confusing.
The other obvious issue is that neither Length nor Smoothing Length indicate the units. My chart is showing a years data in weeks, so is Length and Smoothing Length 9 days or 9 weeks? Chart settings without units are also totally confusing.
Then there are other settings. Source is obvious, but what on earth is Offset? And what is Smoothing Line?
It’s not as if I don’t know what a moving average is, but this UX is incomprehensible and also contains no link to any help documentation.
