Yep. Personal Curve card.
Samsung Pay is currently not in the plans, @Jordonbc - I’ll let you know if this changes in the future
Good to know, just added my virtual card which shows as Santander in Curve. Wish me luck
Update: Curve works with the Virtual Card
But is it showing as a business card in the Curve app?
the problem is Curve would charge extra fees for commercial cards
After more than a month of back and forth, I have managed to convince the Curve support team that my Trading 212 card is personal, and the banner that was warning me of additional fees is no longer there.
I had to point them to @iAndy’s post where some Kamila from Curve explains that when the 9th digit is from 0 to 4 (as is the case for our T212 debit cards) then “the card is definitely a personal card”:
My wife tried to do the same when linking her Curve and T212 cards, but Curve just replied to her that they are aware of the issue, and that she will not be charged the commercial card fee (despite her T212 card is still being shown as commercial inside the Curve app).
It’s a hit and miss with Curve support unfortunately… Thankfully I don’t need them anymore to use my T212 card now that they added Apple Pay support.
How do I check that? Doesn’t appear to be atm
I haven’t actually been charged any fees by Curve yet. Do you know when fees are applied to a transaction? Is there a delay? Thanks.
It will have a message about “Avoid the fees” if it’s a business card I believe
No fees until you’ve spent £1500 on it
Thanks. I have that message for both physical and virtual Trading 212 cards.
If curve won’t charge a fee until I spend £1500 I guess I need to hope they either fixed their mistake (their customer service is shocking) or that Trading 212 get Google Pay working before then.
Ah okay thanks, that’s a bummer as I have this message also (going to avoid this set up now until it’s fixed):
I’ve been on the waiting list for a couple months now. Any ETAs for Europe/Netherlands launch?
We aim to start sending invites in July
Curve metal is £1500 allowance then 1.5% fee
All other tiers of Curve have no allowance and charge 1.5% fee for using a business/commercial card linked to a personal Curve card.
I have free Curve (now called Curve lite) and added my Trading 212 debit card which curve shows as a business card and I have not been charged any fees on my transactions.
I used the card in Italy last month and was so easy to just convert funds to euros as needed. The only issue I had was that I was unable to use cashpoints so had to use my bank card but no real hardship.
Only other issue so far has been using at public EV charging points but again not a big problem.
I’m wondering if they calculate and apply fees at the end of each calendar month?
I haven’t been charged yet either but only had the card just over a week.
I’m fairly sure that Curve charge the 1.5% fee with the transaction and not add them up into one charge later.
I am also currently in Italy and tried unsuccessfully to use my Trading 212 debit card to withdraw cash at a local bank’s ATM, but it did not even take the card in the card slot for some reason (I tried from all possible sides) even though the shape of it is exactly the same as my other credit/debit cards.
Also, I was unable to use the debit card at a highways toll station for the same reason, it would simply not accept it as a valid card.
The contactless and Apple Pay work, just the chip/PIN transactions don’t work here in Italy for me so far (they do work in the UK, at least a the supermarket that I tried before departure).
Why does this happen? Is this a know issue?
Is the UK post office on the list of excluded merchants? My purchase of £3.25 to pay for postage was declined by T212.
Pokerstars is also not allowed
