Hi all.
Wondering if this is possible? and if anyone would give their kind time for explaining how it would be possible to achieve this?
if you wanted to try and make between $75-$100 a day, so by end of week you have made $500? What is the minimum budget you would be looking at to achieve this goal? And what is the best way to achieve this goal? For example: Would you have to be sat in front of your screen for a fair bit of time watching the markets and buying and selling? And would you need multiple investments?
Be great to hear from people who would be kind enough to point me in the right direction?
Thanks in Advance.
An option could be an ETF that distributed dividends (typically around twice a year).
Assuming that dividend matches your $500 a week you’d need approximately $26,000 a year of dividend income to meet this.
- If it’s a global ETF (MSCI World or FTSE ACWI) you are probably looking at a dividend yield of 1.5% (very roughly) so the investment would have to be around $1.7 million.
- If it’s a global dividend ETFs such as Van you are probably looking at a dividend yield of around 2.5-3% so an investment would need to be of around $1 million.
- If it’s an ETF following a country-specific index that has a higher yield say for example the FTSE 100 (UK) or FTSE MIB (Italy) you are probably looking at a dividend yield of around 3-3.5% and the investment would have to be of around $800 thousand.
Note: All these dividends yields are either from memory or from a quick Google, they aren’t reliable figures.
Also, you should be considering what exposure each ETF gives you, the risk and also that dividend distributed may go up and down depending on the business decisions of the businesses owned by the ETF. Also there will be costs associated with the ETF.
The key is total return, not dividend yield. The price variation is also very important.
The problem is that the higher return that you want then the higher risk you will have to accept. Only you can determine how much risk you are willing to accept. My advice is to use a combination of Stockopedia (for stocks) and https://www.justetf.com/uk/search.html?search=ETFS (for ETFs) to decide which of those you wish to invest in.
