Is there a way to find out what's inside an ETF?

Usually the factsheet will give you the top 10 holdings in the ETF but nothing more than that. Is there a way to “bypass” this or is the complete list of stocks in an ETF kept secret on purpose (which would be understandable I guess) ?
Thanks

There’s always an option to see all holdings on the ETF providers website. You just have to look closely for that “button”. It might offer to download an Excel or PDF with all holdings or will show directly on the website.

There is some development in the space of actively managed ETFs where holdings are nontransparent or revealed less than daily. From here

“Today actively managed ETFs account for just about 2.5% of total U.S.-listed ETF assets. It’s a segment that has struggled to find much traction. Only time will tell whether active nontransparent ETFs will bring a new following into the ETF market and potentially improve investor outcomes.”

You can often find this sort of information buried in weighty annual reports. Here’s an example for Invesco ETFs: https://www.fundslibrary.co.uk/FundsLibrary.DataRetrieval/Documents.aspx?type=packet_fund_doc_reports_and_accounts&id=01027e75-7998-4932-9e3c-c6c446c412e6

Easier to find it on the Invesco website with daily updates. Just press the blue button.

Fair point. Others may not be quite-so forthcoming though, particularly OEICs and ITs.

For those interested for iShares.
The dedicated website offers the information on every ETF page.
Just scroll down to the Holdings section and select All.
Thanks @Richard.W for the Invesco screenshot
