@b3699 It’ll correct itself when the trading session begins.

@David thanks for the clarity

I just had a stop loss triggered. I hope that wasn’t because of issues with the price.

I’m investigating now.

False alarm! It was in my practice account. As I’ve said a few times, these haven’t been updated so they’ll exhibit strange behaviour now.

I do like how you break down the maths and jargon related to the stock market :wink:

It’s actually ā€œmandatoryā€ to all hundred of thousands users to be in the community to know anything about the platform, that’s the reason why there is no changelog on App updates or at least a useful twitter account.

Learn something new everyday, Mandatory’ i didn’t even now this, and only joined as i was getting annoyed with customer service via email. Its fortunate that T212 customers are not on here in that volume as i’m unsure how T212/Leaders would cope.

:eyes: wow, that deep thought my friend. We can agree that one way to support the community grow bigger n stronger…

Let us get official words from T212 representative… then throwing our personal assumption.

Stating Mandatory community attendance means no more App notification… then I guess T212 made a mistake sending out ISA eligibility note few days back. Just sell of our long term ADR from ISA with no communication and highlight a post from June.

You’re being sarcastic, right? Iā€˜m honestly not quite sure.

I’m fairly sure you are, but the fact that you’re a ā€œLeaderā€ is confusing me.

Now we have App notification for the fractional split, :clap::clap::clap:

Why is ā€œtrading suspendedā€ for Apple and Tesla in CFD?

@laguiar forgot to add :clown_face:
Otherwise would be much easier spot

Should I be using CFD or INVEST for Tesla?

This is quite a complicated question to answer. However, here are some basic facts.

The current share price of Tesla is about $450.

In INVEST, if you want to buy a share it’ll cost you $450 in whatever your currency is. If it’s GBP then that’s about Ā£338.34. As the share price fluctuates, the value of your $450 investment fluctuates by the same percentage.

However, in CFD, if you want to buy a share it’ll only cost you one-fifth of the share price, so $90/Ā£67.67 in this example, because the leverage is 1:5. So, despite spending one-fifth as much, you would still get the same gains (or losses) as if you’d paid the full price in INVEST. This can magnify your gains, but it can also magnify your losses, so you need to be very careful. Also, because you’re effectively borrowing the funds to pay for the other four-fifths of a share, you need to pay interest. At the moment that interest is 0.08 per day. I can’t remember if that figure is in USD or GBP and I’m not clear on how it is calculated or how it fluctuates.

Finally, if you decide that INVEST is right for you, but you’re in the UK, you should use ISA instead if you have any allowance left for the 2020/21 tax year.

I’m still trying to wrap my head around CFD, so I hope somebody will correct me quickly if I’ve explained this incorrectly.

Also, with CFD, you can ā€œshortā€ a stock, meaning that you’ll gain if it goes down rather than up, and lose if it goes up rather than down. You do this by using the ā€œSellā€ option instead of ā€œBuyā€. Don’t be confused by the word ā€œSellā€; unlike in ISA/INVEST, you don’t need to own a stock before you can sell/short it. In this case the daily interest is 0.06 in either GBP/USD (see above). I’ve never understood why it costs less for a short (sell) position than a long (buy) position, so I’d be grateful if anybody can explain it.

Welcome to the community :smile: @farida101 really depends what you’re trying to achieve?

CFD: will include leverage 1:5 and less finances to purchase (good for day trading/short swings). You will incur overnight fees and wider spreads. Tesla is included in extended hours so can be traded after hours and pre-market.

INVEST: is good for long term, and for day/swing without leverage. (although i read somewhere T212 have introduced 1:2 leverage?). extended hours is currently not available on the Invest platform.

The leverage varies depending on the instrument.

For example, Tesla & Apple are 1:5.
Bitcoin and Ethereum are 1:2.
Gold is 1:20.
Silver is 1:10.

You can find the margin/leverage and the interest (short/long position swap) in ā€œInstrument detailsā€.

i didn’t realise you had replied as it just showed his comment :wink:

Sorry, I misunderstood. I hadn’t heard that. Does anybody know if this is true?

It’s just as well you did reply; I forgot about the extended hours!
