Trading type OTC

Why when I am buying stock like apple, tesla, coca cola … in my orders I get trading type: Over the counter (OTC). As far as I know they are on regulated exchange or am I wrong?

Just means that it’s a trade within a broker dealer network rather than at an exchange. The most likely occurrence is you’re buying from another 212 user.

But still I am getting dividends from the trade right?

Yeah, of course? I’m not sure what from my response made you think you wouldn’t?

You’re just buying from someone who’s selling? From within 212 or from the exchange…it’s the same.

I am doing my UK Tax returns and it states to write number of disposals under listed shares (securities) i.e., major exchanges or unlisted shares securities i.e., OTC. Now i’ve noted that some of my transactions i.e. Palantir or Apple back in 2023 have ‘Trading type’ stated as ‘Over the Counter (OTC)’, even though these are on major exchanges. My question is, are we basing the listed/unlisted category for a security on tax returns based on the exchange or the transaction that was done at that time i.e. if within broker or another T212 user.
