Why is it called "212"?

Just wondered why it’s called Trading 212. Is the 212 meant to be read as “to want to” or something? Or are they just random figures with no significance.

It’s because of a perfume also named 212, it’s mandatory to all employees to use it. :mask:

The telephone area code of Wall Street in the US is 212. Hence the name, Trading212.

I thought it’s Trading212 instead of Trading101, a clever way of saying advanced Trading as opposed to beginner

It’s named after the Azealia Banks song.

This was my thought as well. 212 by convention is the 2nd year 2nd follow up on a class (101 → 102 → 201 → 202) Which is very rare, but exists for certain painful classes in certain majors. i.e calculus in math majors, or EM field/wave Theory in electronics.

The are code also makes sense tho, I know 212 was (in the past when there are not many phone numbers) new yorks area code. May be its limited to Manhattan now? :man_shrugging:

agree with @chantal LOL

in reality…

the domain name was not available, they probably tried everything

I’m sure they’d have loved to name it just Trading.com
