A couple of features/changes Iād like to see after using the platform very actively for a month, in addition to some mentioned in the original post
-Sells should default to the currency of the stock!!!
Itās really maddening to lose 1% of your assets (0.5% fx fee each way) as the default is converting to local currency when selling. I shouldnāt have to actively select not to throw away money on a sale. If a user needs to convert currency, they can do that when they choose to. Iām sure it generates a nice bit of fx income but it feels pretty sly and really canāt be good for user satisfaction/retention.
-Custom folders/tags/filters (not pies) to group stocks.
Pies have their place but I donāt want to randomly drop money into groups of individual stocks, especially volatile ones. A lack of ability to time entries/exits is just throwing away alpha. I shouldnāt have to scroll up and down through the entire portfolio to view the performance of multiple stocks in a given sector. It should be possible to group/tag/filter so I can easily check my performance/positions in a given industry/sector/theme. Grouping by investment thesis in collapsible folders would also make it a whole lot easier to keep an eye on short term plays (frustratingly hard to do currently) and make it possible to keep spec stocks and very long term positions from cluttering up the portfolio view.
Overall Iām really enjoying the platform but the above seem like huge misses
RSI, MACD, Bollinger Bands even as notifications would be useful. Also adding dates to pending orders and % change since placed.
Iād like to be able to use limit orders inside pies, e.g. limit buy or limit sell.
Some of the ETFs I buy are not very liquid and thus have high spreads. So I like to set limit orders to avoid any surprises.
I could buy/sell outside the buy and import/export from the pie afterwards but this messes the pieās statistics.
It would be very useful to have a way of seeing totals in a configurable year to date (i.e. profit/loss/interest/etc).
Here in the UK, Iād set it to 6th April and that would at a glance let me see the most important figures I need to track my tax liabilities. Knowing Iāve received Ā£3000 in interest since account opening is just a curiosity, knowing Iāve received Ā£500 in the current tax year is actually useful information. Likewise, knowing my trading has resulted in a profit of Ā£20k since account opening isnāt as useful as knowing Iāve made a gain of Ā£3000 in the current tax year so can manage the capital gains implications.
Fortuitous timing: Trading212 just added 494 ānewā stocks. I was only able to spot them because of the spreadsheet I use.
Unlikely any of these are truly ānewā though ā looks like a massive listing of German market stocks ā a lot of which are already traded on other markets
Rate of Return Calculation: (Most important feature)
Revert the MWRR calculation or replace it with XIRR. XIRR is more appropriate as it accounts for varying deposit and withdrawal timings, both regular and irregular. It focuses solely on unrealized gains for equity investments, excluding dividends (which should be treated as fixed income and allocated separately), interest on cash (a separate money market instrument), and FX fees. Ideally, realized gains/losses, net deposits, and net withdrawals should also be excluded from this calculation, as absolute deposit/withdrawal amounts are rarely a primary concern. The focus should be on the overall portfolio performance.
Portfolio Analysis & Sorting:
Allow sorting of investments by percentage or absolute return, in addition to the current value sorting.
Trading & Corporate Actions:
Implement a buyback application, Split, Bonus, Reduction in capital feature within the Trading 212 app.
Add a feature to include current holdings in upcoming event tracking.
Watchlist Enhancements:
Allow sorting of the watchlist by daily % change
Watchlist stocks should have a small tooltip or events to display (such as bonus, dividends etc).
Fundamental Data:
Include shareholding pattern data (promoter, institutional, etc.) and their quarter-over-quarter and year-over-year changes.
Display changes in promoter holding and pledged percentage.
Events Calendar Improvements:
Revamp the events calendar to include tabs or a menu for watchlist stocks and current holdings, consolidating all relevant events in one place.
IPO Tracking:
Create an āIPO Cornerā featuring upcoming IPOs, listed IPO gains/losses, etc.
Portfolio Summary:
Display the total number of stocks held in the portfolio. This is crucial for managing diversified portfolios.
Volume Data:
In addition to average volume, display the volume from 7 days ago and the 3-month average volume.
Include Sector return and market return for each stocks.
Block and Bulk deals as a separate event.
show bid and ask quantity (market depth) when the market is open.
Can we have a simple feature that allows me to see on one screen the stocks I am invested in and how much I have in them. Since the new pie screen this has been removed and itās bloody annoying!
This already exists - on the āPieā screen, locate āAsset allocationā section and then click āMore detailsā (below green/red boxes).
Additionally, on desktop (browser) you can also see it on the Home screen in Advanced view - when on the āHomeā screen, click the icon again and select Advanced view. Then, on the bottom left-ish, click the down/up arrows icon to expand the list of your assets.
Unfortunately, despite the name, Trading 212 seems to relish making actual trading as awkward as possible. Certainly for the Invest and ISA accounts. And Iām not interested in CFD.
Shame any mention of this topic is shut down by the moderators.
Increase the 250 limit on orders⦠or at least make sell and buy orders not the same count. Ability to copy the numbers displayed on app, eg the lowest of day or year, and make that your buy order value.
