Bewilderment at interface "updates"

Why is it that for the past last 3 or 4 major updates, the interface has become less informative?
Nothing seems logical to a novice investor, which is Trading212 primary user.
Each update hides valuable info behind another drop down or option list: E.G, cost basis, chart timings, now, financials and FX impact on return.
Why on Earth would you hide a positions specific return details?
Why isn’t all info clearly displayed?
Why would you change the daily and 52w range to vertical? when it was much more clear, easier to cross reference and more compact as a horizontal lines.
Why remove that nice flow diagram of a companies financials, that was incredibly clear, that should’ve been built on, not destroyed.

There’s so much empty space on screen. Padding, double line spacing, with obnoxiously wide font update contributing to this. Reduce these so that you can put all info on the screen, so users can see all important information on a single screen/page. There is no need to have so much info hidden. Especially critical investments info.

All the while no updates to the account chart detailing, so that it is easier top users to track: cost basis investment, cash positions, stock history profit/loss.

Edit: Wow…
I just noticed the terrible update top the price alerts, why would you remove the note feature?
Why would you remove simple add and delete icons from the price alerts box.
What do you mean ā€˜See all’, SHOW ALL in the first place!!!
This needs changing back to how it was asap.
Who ever is making these decisions please stop.

Less information = impulsive decisions = a lot of people will panic and put more money in.
For the rest of us - I now have to make more and more manual notes

***T212 you have deleted my notes - are you actually allowed to delete my information? That’s a lot of work you’ve wiped. At the very least send it to me so that I can copy and paste it into a notes app on my laptop.

It’s really getting worse and worse. That chart timing which now requires more clicks is nuts. Who came up with that idea?

Btw, MrMesh, I think they optimise everything for phones, that’s why there are huge gaps and empty spaces. Damn, phone is just a back up. What normal person does all their trading on a phone?

it’s an investment app, perfectly capable of doing it on an mobile phone.

If you just buy stocks once and then only use phone to check if your portfolio is going up or not, that’s fine, but analysing graphs on a tiny phone screen? Watching only one thing at a time? There’s a reason why pro traders have either multiple monitors or today at least one large screen with widgets, etc. Plus, keyboard and mouse are much better than any touch screen.

Hiding the FX impact is the last straw for me…

I’m sure the changes appeal to someone, but certainly not me. Additional functionalities are always welcome of course.

I’d very much like to have toggle options for:

  • Hiding elements I don’t want (social feed, share lending)
  • Always displaying FX impact without hiding it behind a submenu
  • Showing news as a separate element from the social feed

Rage, rage against the dying of the light! :joy:

the sinister three dots of ā€œI’m moving broker and must tell someone!ā€

Do you think these changes are to do anything but confuse novice investors? It really is a very poor interface now.

Well I’m sure that wasn’t the design intention, 212 don’t benefit from having confused customers.

Every update that comes out tens of customers come out and say they hate it and it’s usually a very trivial change.

You can tell it confused a lot of people, because the ammount of people commenting on the Social media tab or News dropped by 50% from my observations, even in stocks like Nvidia. Even the posts dropped by 50%.

I work for a very large software company as a UX designer (have done for the past 30 years) there is no doubt in my mind that many of the changes have been made to intentionally to make the information more confusing. Yes it is in their interest to do so.

At one point I worked for a financial institution and was asked to come up with ways to nudge users in certain directions. I know it happens and these changes are exactly of this type.

in what way is it in their interest to do so?

Exactly.

Trading212 only makes money if you sell or buy, they don’t want you holding. So they hide as much information as possible so people don’t really know what is happening, so you buy or sell not knowing the whole picture.

That is the only reason I can think of as to why every update makes it harder to get the information we need to know what is going on.

I think that’s a lazy baseless assumption.

I would say they are trying to encourage ā€˜social’ engagement, through pies, feeds, etc. Perhaps to create a community spirit, like those online gaming sites???

Where are the FX rates? This is a really shady move, but I’m not surprised at all, after recent ā€œdevelopmentsā€. The less transparent it becomes, the more transparent the underlying reasons are.

This is etoros calendar that shows ex and payment div dates. A simple, clear lay out.

and their layout looks so much easier to use and has all the information in front of you.

I am not sure what to make of it all, I have been loyal to T212 for years. But it is becoming a really bad UI.

It really appears as though they have given up on the web interface and just use the app coding for everything, as when I access it on my laptop, it is awful.

I agree we need the Fx rate visibility restored.
