I haven’t had a transaction to test the 1.5% yet. It works ordinarily with the 0.5% but maybe there is something in the terms with the latest offer after all.
Edit: just to confirm, this seems to be working for me. I received 1.5% cashback in the way outlined above.
Are other Curve users here aware of the change in more recent time that most transaction is only registered as Curve in the trading 212 card transaction history. (without more merchant info). Compared to before or how other cards present Curve transactions with Crv*Most of the merchant info that would the transaction would include if it was charged directly from that card?
I have tried to get answer from support that suggested that it was something that Curve is in the position to answer. And is still waiting for Curve support to get back. But since other cards show most transactions like what was common before with Crv*merchant name and or info I believe it is more likely to be a change or something on Trading 212 og their card provider Paynetics end than Curve. Would be nice to get confirmation if others is noticing this change too. This makes it default to keep track and get an informal view of the spending of these transactions in the trading 212 card transactions section compared to earlier where the merchant info was passed to as it it still is to other cards.
For UK clients, the base cashback rate remains 0.5%. However, with the new Merchant-Funded Cashback programme, you can earn additional cashback when shopping with selected brands. These offers appear directly in the card menu. Please note that this feature is still being gradually rolled out to eligible clients.
If I am honest, I don’t think this is a positive change but more of a gimmick. The merchant brands aren’t everyday retailers you’d regularly shop at, but instead much more niche. They feel more like affiliate links or sponsors. Until everyday brands appear on that list I’ll be switching to another card for all my spend.
It feels a bit weird, UK-exclusive merchants that I never heard for. And that I can’t shop there, as I’m in EU.
Maybe more international shops, pan-european merchants, e.g. Lidl or Aldi.
Also T212 EU/UK customers could have to both merchants, for example, EU could access also to UK merchants and UK customers access to EU merchants.
By the way, I only have a 0.5% cashback, never had the cashback launch promotion that T212 had for many months, due to T212 technicalities on T212 EU residents on UK platform.
I also have just 0.5% Cashback now. EU customers and DE customers (friends that I invited recently) all have 2% Promotional Cashback since many months.
This is really unfair for us OG T212 clients with the UK entity. They should be able to let us migrate to the proper local entity without selling or closing accounts and or have a global cashback rate of 2%.
I withdrew my free funds and went back to TradeRepublic, which gives me fixed 1% Cashback.
Good stuff. Brings you online with other cards in UK, a positive step.
As an Australian, living in UK, these kinds of country variations are pretty standard. Amex, PayPal, Netflix, Amazon, different countries, different environments, diffetent regulations, different offers.
I’d happily swap my 6% cashback for 1 purchase every 3 - 6 months (if lucky) for an elevated 2% cashback on everything. EU folks definitely winning here.
