Iām trying to buy 0.5 of a share. Not sure if itās related but this works out at a value of around Ā£84. Every time I try to submit though, the proportion of the share changes to ā~0.8236ā and I canāt reduce it. Any ideas whatās going on?
Hey, @LuketheFool
When you buy using a āNumber of sharesā type order, if the quantity you enter is too close to your total free funds, the order will be converted from āNumber of sharesā into aā Valueā order. This is done to protect you from buying more than you can afford in case the price goes up quickly.
In such cases, you can try setting a limit order for 0.50 shares with a limit price close to the current one. You can also try splitting the order in two - for example, you can try buying 0.25 shares, and placing another order for 0.25 shares right after the first one is executed.
Ah ok, makes sense although a warning sign would be useful. I tried reducing the fraction but it just started rounding down to zero instead. Iāve now bought a dollar amount that is frustratingly close to, but not exactly, a nice round decimal, but itāll do
Frustratingly this continues to happen. I wanted to buy 0.25 shares, representing about 65% of my remaining balance, but T212 decided it had to buy 100% of my balance worth. Irritatingly I tried the confirm button by mistake but the current implementation is not doing what youāre intending it to do
