It appears there hasn’t been a recent thread on this topic so thought to start new thread. So please don’t shoot me down before reading the below description.
I know you can rebalance position inside a pie and I know you can export a position out of the pie and sell.
However, like standard portfolio management how to sell a position (zero it out) while inside the pie? This is to ensure the transaction gets recorded as associated to the pie and the gains or losses get added to Pie’s performance metrics?
I want to understand how the portfolio performs with all the rebalancing, buying and selling over 1y, 3y, 5y etc. Do you not think selling completely is part of portfolio tasks similar to buying and rebalancing? Why the pie feature is still half-cooked?
You change the weights of the pie to exclude the holding you want to remove. Run a rebalance and manually update the weightings you want it invested back into if needed.
To add a bit more to @Dougal1984’s reply. You can sell a single share of your Pie using the ‘Withdraw’ button. Keep in mind that this will send the funds to your account’s free funds. You can select the precise amount of each investment you want to sell. Here’s how it works:
Go to your pie’s ‘Overview’ screen.
Tap on the ‘Invest / Withdraw funds’ button.
Choose the ‘Custom’ option.
All slices in your pie will be listed, and each will be accompanied by a slider.
Adjust the sliders to select the specific amounts you wish to sell from each investment.
After making your selection, tap on ‘Confirm Sell’ to send the necessary orders to the exchanges.
You will receive a notification once the investing process is completed.
About that - I get your point here and will pass the suggestion on to the team.
I tried this in practice account, it appears to work. Added MSFT and GOOGL with £2000 invested 50/50. Then removed GOOGL, adjusted allocation 100% to MSFT, hit rebalance.
The GOOGL position got sold out and the proceeds got invested in remaining allocation. Though there is some residual cash left in the pie and the %ge for remaining MSFT position was 100% which dosen’t total up.
The pie chart history showed no changes happened which is okay.
