Privacy matters - especially when you’re investing on the go.
Flip your phone face-down and up to instantly blur your portfolio balance, P/L, and other sensitive data. Flip it again to restore your view. A simple way to keep your information safe when checking your account in public
The feature is already live, so just make sure you’re on the latest version of the app, or update if you aren’t.
Cool feature but it doesn’t seem to remember being in privacy mode when I close & kill the app and then re-open - all my numbers are visible
I feel like it should
iOS app version 8.24.9
Also a suggestion: Have it require biometrics (or PIN if user doesn’t have bio setup) to re-enable visibility mode. That way if you’re showing someone your app, they can’t accidentally or purposefully make it visible again
Please add a button to negate or supplement the the device motion input requirement.
Like there is on the desktop site. Plenty of room for it. either add the eye icon next to the gear symbol in the top bar, or the pop up option when tapping on the account value.
I flip my phone multiple times throughout the day to silence it during meetings. This is having the effect of displaying my balance when not wanted . Why not just have a simple toggle on/off switch. Yahoo Finance is a perfect example. They have a little eyeball symbol. You tap it, the eye closes, your balance is hidden. You tap it again, the eye opens, your balance is displayed. Simple. It’s not affected whether you flip your phone or not. Seems to me this facility on T212 is a bit over-engineered. All we need is a simple toggle on / off switch on the screen..
Nice idea, but honestly a simpler approach might be more practical in real life.
A small “eye” icon to hide/unhide sensitive info — and remember the state — is usually more useful than a flip gesture. It’s predictable, works when your phone is on a table, and avoids accidental triggers. Plus, users already understand that pattern from banking apps.
As it has already been said by other users: please make it useful and pragmatic.
TL;DR: please forward this to the Product team for consideration.
Requirements that are a MUST for mobile apps:
Add a button with an “eye” on the top of the screen. A gentle tap should show or hide the balances.
Implement preference persistence, so it becomes POSSIBLE to start the app with the balances already hidden, using one of these possible implementations:
Option A: remember the LAST state defined by the user using the “eye button” (see Requirement 1).
Option B: define a “default state” that can be defined in Settings > Security & Privacy. In this way, the app always STARTS with this PREFERRED state, regardless of the LAST state set by the user.
Issues with the CURRENT implementation:
The app ALWAYS starts with the balances being shown.
As soon as you open the app, you MUST make a very sudden and visible movement to hide the balances.
Imagine yourself in a busy public space like a train, underground/subway bus, airport, pub, coffee shop, etc.
You may argue that you shouldn’t open the app in those public spaces, and I agree to certain degree, but what is the point of implementing a privacy feature to introduce physical security if it requires you to make yourself “more visible” by making very visible gestures with your phone?
Also, take into account that the app has a debit card feature. You may want to check your remaining balance or move some cash between pots before paying a bill in a restaurant/pub/coffee shop without accidentally revealing your investment portfolio to other people.
